There is a potential link between Hughton and Boateng - Ghana. Boateng was born there despite playing a few games for the Netherlands and Hughton was recently involved with the Ghana national team first as an advisor and then as manager.

So I've heard less crazy suggestions.

My theory is that they'd love to give it to Boateng and that there will have been a 'plan' to do so for some time since he got the job at Brockhall working with the kids. There's been a similar plan for some time to get Gestede into the hierarchy and I suspect eventually he will replace Waggott as the main man down there. 

This is how these people operate - they love to give jobs out to the cheap and desperate who will accept any conditions in return for a route into management. Probably nice people too just to help them along.

But I also think they will recognise that directly appointing Boateng would cause furore especially in our current position. So perhaps their little scheme is to bring someone like Hughton in alongside/above him temporarily just to make it appear more reasonable and then he steps aside and they hand it to Boateng after that.

We need someone who’s proven, a winner, a motivator, Someone who is going to persuade key players to want to play for this football club, none of this rookie bullshit experimenting malarkey. And a big IF we’re going down that route (rather not) rather it be someone who’s been connected with the club/fans ie Duff.

Whilst I joked about Boetang being linked it’s hard to think of many worse options at this point, apart from the likes of Kean a first time manager with no pedigree to speak of is just not the route to go down now.

Bring someone like that into the staff is no issue but not as the main man

If we are even interviewing the likes of Boateng and Boa Morte then we are just wasting crucial time.

We shouldnt be interviewing loads of people. We should have had a succession plan or at least an idea of what we want.

If we had say 3 we were deciding between then fine, interview and decide away, but more than that suggests we havent got a clue and are just interviewing loads hoping to stumble across someone.

Im guessing a foreign name is more likely because theyll be less likely to know much about the shit show that is a Venkys run football club and it will likely be someone of a calibre that means that less/no teams at our level would even consider such a name.

I didnt really take mentions of Boamorte and Boateng seriously but if either of those 2 are appointed its impossible to view it as anything other than downright sabotage.

In Boateng's case at age 49 he has zero managerial experience at a meaningful level. Last role was less than 5 months at Coventry as head coach, they bombed, then he was sacked when Lampard was brought in.

And for the poster who said look out for a Boro/Birmingham/Coventry link he had 6 years as a player at Boro then the ill fated spell at Coventry recently. 

Got the stench of HSH and Waggott all over it.

Yes, we’ve stayed in touch, sporadically. He’s a really nice guy doing a job, he reckons Suhail is too…but there’s zero feeling or love or drive, and ultimately they’re paid to work in their employers best interest.

The problem with Suhail is, we’ve been involved in a playoff race, 3 of the last 4 seasons, whilst Suhail has been reducing the budget and asking his employers for less additional funding. As long as his scouting team can keep finding him Trondstadt’s, Ohashi’s, Kargbo’s and Gueye’s for a million quid, then supplementing with academy grads, along with frees and loans like Weimann, Batth, Beck, Ribeiro and Dennis. Then on paper, he’s doing a bloody brilliant job! You can imagine how great the quarterly reports look! 🙈

Imagine being Boateng, "Sorry George, the fanbase will likely riot if we put you in charge, so we've implemented a plan to get you in on the sly in a few months"

I know we haven't appointed him Chaddy but why would we even waste everyone's time by interviewing him? And if we are at the point whereby we are interviewing him, we must be interested/considering appointing him at the very least.

I think it's clear there had been issues with Eustace for some time and surely Waggott and Gestede saw the writing on the wall.

All this seemingly p1ssing about interviewing the likes of Boateng, Boa Morte etc (if correct) smacks of just how dysfunctional our executive management is.  There should have been a clear plan to execute a new Head Coach and barring an unforeseen stellar application, we should have had a new man in place before the Plymouth game.

Talking about Plymouth, I was told at weekend Eustace had even applied for the Plymouth job when Rooney left - if this is correct, it shows, IMO, just how desperate Eustace was to get out of our mad house and knocks on the head all this closer to family business.

I have no idea why and we don't if he is being interview or not for sure. 

Wouldn't be on my shortlist of 6 to 10 candidates to be interview here. I think its right to interview so many and see what their thoughts and ideas about the team in the short term, medium term and long term. Can be all done by zoom then complie a 3 man shortlist from that and second interview them, picking their number 1 choice from that list. 

It's important we pick the "right candidate". Here and not choose the wrong one. Big call for Gestede and Owen

I got a call from a friend who is well connected at Middlesbrough and he said they are expecting an announcement today that he Carrick is gone. His replacement has been lined up and is the one who I think the majority of us would favour as our manager.

I understand the logic, Chaddy, but as others have said, a better run club would have a succession plan, meaning they would already know who the number one choice is, and go after them.

Should the attempt to lure the number one choice be fruitless, you then move on to the number two choice, and so on.

Our indecisive, drawn out methods are indicative of how poorly the club functions at boardroom level and upwards.
