That is the danger. Too many modern managers are wedded to “ playing their way “. Which may not be our current way.

A good indication of out of work managers wantng back in is when they suddenly pop up in the Sky studio as match analysts. you hear nothing about them and then suddenly theyre centre stage on Sky.

Gary Monk suddenly appeared for awhile ...Gary Rowett was never away from Sky games ...Warnock suddenly popping up in the studio i see recently.

'We re available ..come talk to us '...chuck in David Moyes into that catagory too ..

I occasionally speak to one of the people involved in the selection process. He won't say a thing about it (he's usually very open).

That's why I've been thinking that maybe Gerrard could work even though I'm not really a fan of him overall... But he could have the personality and determination (bit souey esque) to just push us over the line and he can just let the current coaching team keep things as they are for now without any major or changes

Feels to me like they are unsure whether to appoint a manager or appoint Lowe and DJ and are playing for time to see how Swansea goes.

For what it's worth I think we will beat Swansea and appoint Lowe and DJ.

- Cheap

- Know the club, the players, the system, the tactics

- Know the clown show behind the scenes and can ignore it

The situation is a bit like the transfer market. Obviously the fans want big names to come in... but often big names end up being big disappointments. Danny Murphy as a player, or Paul Lambert as a manager etc. I think it's really not obvious at all that a relatively big name like Karanka, O'Neil, Gerrard would definitely make us better. Often it blows up in your face... look at the recent records of those guys, or indeed someone like Amorim at Man Utd.

So... if there was someone we are looking at and all the stars align and it's clear they will make a big positive impact over the next 13 games I am all for it. But if there are reservations about the candidates - do they really want it, will they work with the tactics and system already in place, can they handle the general nonsense about the club - I would just stick with what we have tbh.

We could really shoot ourselves in the foot if we appoint someone and they are just not the right fit.

Danny Murphy was past it as a player and Paul Lambert’s managerial career was in a downward spiral, having been a relative failure at Aston Villa.

The real problem is that we won’t pay the going rate for the better managers who are currently out of work, egs O’Neil, Cooper, and arguably Gerrard, (if he comes with the right staff).

That leaves us with ageing desperados, eg Karanka, or young, upcoming managers who would be grateful for the opportunity, egs Duff and Wellens.

Given that is the case, I’d rather have Lowe until the Summer than the likes of Karanka, but I’d make an exception for Duff, who just feels like a good fit.
 

Unlike Dunn, he has a brain and could quite conceivably become a successful manager in England.

And the January transfer window was nowhere as bad as some of you make of it. Sanderson showing his worth, Kargbo has been good, Forshaw best performance last week and Riberio has been excellent so far
