Think the Ismael reaction is slightly over the top. Don’t understand where the long ball merchant tag has come from.

Was excellent at Barnsley and got the most out of both Britain and Woodrow.

Not the most glamorous of names but he’s a solid coach and we could do far worse.

think it’s a decent appointment.

Wagner always struck me as a thoughtful, intelligent, composed coach whose teams played good football and far more likely to get a tune out of this team than Ismael. Not the best appointment they could make, but certainly not the worst

they are going to give the job to lowe till the end of the season, hence the reason owen ,the technical director (not sure what that means or what he does) is taking a closer interest in 1st team affairs,it fits swag and pashas remit, make sure the team is`nt anywhere near the top six,we are nowhere near relegation, job done for us,bonus time and lets relax

Really? For a team that’s 5th with 12 to go and ran correctly?

I think not. Desperate stuff because we aren’t ran correctly.

I would be ok with Wagner or Ismael.

Ismael in particular did a great job at Barnsley under similar conditions to those at Rovers.

That's a chaddy type u turn right there.

I cant imagine either of those two were who you had in mind when you were saying that the bookies probably had it wrong and you were saying the Club were keeping their cards close to their chest and you expected a "left field" appointment insinuating it'd be quite an exciting one in comparison to those in the betting lists.

he can`t take over officially, bet he`s in glasgow as the dressing room cleaner or something similar

I mean he can take over officially whenever he wants.

As he's driven purely by greed he refuses to do so until the new financial year as it'll mess up his blood money tax returns. Hardly the bloke you're going to run through a wall for.

Ismael’s football is apparently pretty basic hoofball.

However, he did a great job getting Barnsley to the playoffs with a very average team, who before he took over were in the bottom 5 or 6 and one of the faves for relegation. Think he took over in Autumn and got them in the top 6 by season end. He’s been pretty average since but maybe his style suits clubs with smaller budgets?

Wagner seeks a bit more style over substance.

Can’t say I’m enthused by either but just got to hope we have a new manager bounce that lasts for the next 13 games.

Not interesting in speaking about fucking Coyle. Dingle simple as. Shouldn't be nowhere near our great club.

The recruitment department have done a good job this season in recruit good players wouldn't you agree?

Eustace has decided to leave for his own reasons. big decision by him. We need to focus on the now and future under our new head coach

Mixed job. Batth good, Beck good. Weimann has been a solid squad player but his legs are going. Cantwell has been poor, ACD poor. McFadzean pointless. Toth crap. Baker, meh. Neither of the 2 strikers have been great, mixed bags really, Ohashi started well and then struggled and vice versa. January signings haven't featured much. All signed for a small amount so it is hard.

But point being, you suggested that our current structure is where the higher ups pick a shortlist and a head coach picks from there. As if its a seamless process that is working, despite Eustace being clearly unhappy with a lack of final say.

A former play off manager? For a team chasing playoffs? Yeah, it’s decent.

With the self inflicted restrictions, it’s a solid appointment.

Ismael did undoubtedly do well to get an unfancied Barnsley into the play offs during the covid season but he really struggled at both West Brom and Watford, ignoring another brief spell at Besiktas. Questions about his man management arose and also his style became predictable.

His style is really hard to watch, we don't need to worry much about our terrible pitch as the ball won't be on it much. I remember at Barnsley he used to always make subs on the hour mark but it became quite predictable. I think the assumed thought process was run the starters into the ground and replace with fresh legs.

Also, didn't he play 3/5 at the back at Barnsley, and will he try and do that right away here?

Looking online and it seems Ismail's preferred formation is 3 at the back. Not sure changing the tactics at this stage of the season and given where we are in the league is a good move. Also read this:

"But Ismael is no stranger to working with meagre resources. Indeed, he turned Barnsley into play-off contenders on the back of a net spend of just £800k. Even at West Brom, he was forced to operate under a tight budget, operating mainly in the loan and free transfer market"

That last line sounds familiar...

Calling it - Valerien Ismael. French, been out of work for a year and shit. Ticks the boxes for a Gestede appointment.

Briefly reading up on Wagner and his style looks to fit better with the players here: https://www.pinkun.com/news/23422545.norwich-city-tactical-analysis-david-wagners-impact/

For me these last 12 games need to be about pushing on with what the team have done well at so far, and guiding/motivating them over the line. If the choice is one of these it seems obvious Wagner would be the better option.

Different opinion to mine on the summer signings.

Plus how many of those signings really did Eustace given unleaded comments about it and why Park left.

Who says Eustace didnt have the final say?

How can head coach scout players from overseas or even in the UK when he is coaching the team and managing games? That's why you got to trust your recruitment staff and Gestede/Owen on it.

Eustace wanted Championship experience signings. Many of whom he wanted you didn't want like Wallace who you said was has been. Looks still a good player to me given how he played against us

I understand he’s not everyone’s choice, he doesn’t last long at most clubs, he has some blips on his record but I’m willing to back him, he has a 49% win ratio, he has taken Barnsley to the playoffs, better record than Eustace overall.. a balls not been kicked yet, he has a week with the players now (if he’s announced tomorrow) and 12 games to keep us in the top 6. No idea if it will work out, plenty of twists and turns still to come this season but if he can get us into the playoffs it will have been a successful appointment, no point looking past this season just now. 12 big games to go! Let’s see how we go.
