You look at West Brom, they had just come down and he was sacked within the play offs but they expected a top 2 place.

They were in the top 6 and sacked another one like they did with Darren Moore, did that sacking achieve promotion then?

You seem defiant and adamant that Ismael if appointed WILL 100% do a good job. Is that fair? You dont seem to have considered that he may not or raised any concerns.

I am happy with this appointment for these reasons, experience of championship as head coach, played 4-2-3-1 formation at Watford plus more of head coach than manager which suits our structure.

Concerns not at this stage until you see what impact he has here, what formation he plays and whether the players response to his man management skills plus what his backroom staff is.

I am underwhelmed but obviously its not a hopeless, disastrous appointment and it could have been worse.

so who was you really expect us to appoint? Even your own choice of Rob Edwards has had failures on his CV including a short stint at Watford who have 9 permanent head coach in 4 and half seasons, but you consider him a downgraded on Eustace even tho he has promotion from this league to PL which Eustace doesn't have yet on his CV

Do you acknowledge any of the above concerns, or have any of your own? Or are you 100% sure he is the perfect man for the job?

no one can be 100% sure that X is the perfect man for the job, you have an opinion, like I was confident Hughes would be the right fit for us after he took over from Souness or when Ince was appointed, I just didn't think that was right appointment. I had doubts when we appointed Souness but he proved me wrong. Sometimes you have a feel whether it feel right or wrong, Just like when you hiring staff in a normal job. You see the CV and you have a feel and then you interview then and see whether it backed up your initial opinion or not

Not for me. these people consider them PL manager/coaches or want to take time out of the game, or in Gerrard case, tax reasons

he needs to sort out his work permit first

Put it this way, I’m not concerned about boro poaching Ismael from under our noses if Carrick gets sacked. I’m sure if we offered cooper,  Edwards or O’Neil a bumper salary with assurances about funding and contracts we would be an attractive job given our league position. Remember we do have Billionaire owners and an excellent FFP position. If only we had ambition.

Like I said, I am personally underwhelmed but not totally against it to the point that I can acknowledge reasons why he COULD be a good appointment. I personally see more points against than for overall but its a mixed bag. Are there any points against his appointment in your book? Even allowing for the fact that your overall opinion is that you are for Ismael being appointed, and acknowleding potential concerns would not change that overall feeling.

For example, you said the other day that we need a manager for the "short, medium and long term." Ismael has NEVER stayed anywhere for very long. Any concern there?

I like that VI looks tough, like a manager should.  I always felt that JE looked like he could be picked on at school.

Yeah, got to admit he doesnt look like someone you'd want to get the wrong side of. If he can scare the living bejesus out of them for 15 games it might work.

Im a bit worried about the work permit situation. How long will that take?

You asked my if I had any concerns about Ismael and now you are asking me similar way but just a different way.

My original answer "Concerns not at this stage until you see what impact he has here, what formation he plays and whether the players response to his man management skills plus what his backroom staff is.

maybe if West Brom and Watford had shown some patience then he might have deliver for them. Sacking him when in the top 6 is laughable for me but they did the same with Darren Moore, did WBA ever get the promote? 🙄

Yes. They sacked Darren Moore, brought Bilic in and got promoted the following season.

So Nixon reckons we are giving him a 3 year deal.

I don't see the point of this. Why are we giving a manager with a patchy record a long contract when our entire squad is out within the next 15 months?

I would much prefer a deal until 2026 and an option beyond that if things have gone well.

i somehow don`t think he`ll last 3 years, when he finds out that most of his squad are out of contract at the end of next season and the board ar`nt bothered about it,he`ll be off quicker than usain bolt

If he does get a 3 year contract I’ll give you any odds you like he won’t last 3 years.

Mates a Barnsley fan - said similar, also said that we shouldn't forget that Barnsley season was during COVID.

Am I right i thinking that you was (and may very well still be) very much for the appointment the other day?

Also his work permit from Watford time in charge is still valid. Also says Ismael will only bring a couple of backroom staff with him and all of them are available.

Also our entire squad isn't out within the next 15 months
