"Square square" with no negative anywhere came across to me as he wanted it squared. I just hope, whoever he is, he soon realizes we do not have a keeper. How many points has Pears cost us, quite a few. He can shit can Benson too as I think he is a root cause.

martonrover
10 minutes ago, islander200 said: Why wouldn't he get a job in the championship? Excellent at Barnsley. Watford is a death trap for a manager and was 9th when sacked West brom had just come down from the Premier league and their fans reckoned they should have been playing champagne football, 5th and only 8 points off top 2 when sacked. I'm not assed about style of play, results is what I care about and Ismaels results have not been terrible at any club. Do I think we could do better ?Yes If we would pay a bit more But it just isn't the case that he wouldn't have interest from clubs in the championship if he didn't get a job here Sorry, agree to disagree. People are analysing the stats to death to try and comfort and convince themselves, but the facts are that he was sacked within a year of his two most recent jobs in the Championship. He's not been on anyone's radar in the Championship, (until our muppets needed a new manager), because of the above. The feedback I'm reading from WBA and Watford fans is almost universally negative. The most positive I've seen is, "Not a complete disaster". I'm also only really concerned with results, rather than style of play, and the dramatic collapses he endured at those two clubs are par for the course here, so he should fit in just fine. JDT and Eustace did as well as it is possible to do under this ownership / muppet boardroom. One wrong turn with choice of manager could be disastrous. I'm not analysing any stats apart from his results and they are not bad at any of his clubs over here. Again opinions of West Brom and Watford supporters mean little to me,they had big expectations and budgets and wanted a different style of play and to be going up automatically. I would compare us to Barnsley not them,as next season if still in this division that is the sort of budget he will be working with. With respect you have no idea If he was on shortlists for other clubs and even if not the same could have been said for Eustace, after being sacked at Birmingham Championship jobs became available and he wasn't appointed or in the running(according to media) for any of them

roversfan99
It seems counterproductive to either dismiss his time at West Brom/Watford or alternatively his time at Barnsley dependant on your overall opinion of the appointment.
Browjd
The talking is very nearly done. We can move on together supporting VI and the boys to hopefully secure a playoff place! rtid

West brom had just come down,Watford had a big budget and both owners and fans were wanting automatic promotion and to play a certain way. If we are still in this division next season we won't be expecting Ismael to get us automatic promotion playing champagne football on a bottom 3 budget. But at Barnsley he did get them into the playoffs on a budget that will be similar to ours His results might not have been automatic promotion results at West Brom or Watford but they were not terrible

Neal
They've gotten lucky with their last 2 appointments, somehow managing to get us in the top 6 and challenge for it.... Their luck will run out with this appointment. Really hope I'm wrong of course. This will be a disaster. I can already feel it. I don't know why, I just sense it. The appointment they needed to make was Gary O'Neill, the most sensible at least. They've typically done it on the cheap and gotten a desperate out of work manager, David Wagner would've been a better choice in my opinion out of that unwanted pool of managers. Shite.
