(substitute Cantwell / Dennis / Ohashi / Beck where you see fit) Carter - Hyam - Batth Brittain Ribiero Travis - Tronstad Dolan Gueye Kargbo 433 maybe this, which I think suits us better (again Carter / Dennis / Ohashi / Beck where you see fit) Brittain - Hyam - Batth - Ribiero Travis - Cantwell - Tronstad Dolan Gueye Kargbo On that basis it looks like his tactical approach is based on the players at his disposal - which is what you want in a manager . We don't want what's happened at Manchester United where the new manager insists on playing one particular way even though it doesn't suit the squad he has inherited.

RoverDom
Can i just save a few months of pain? After narrowly missing out on the play offs and losing several key players over summer Valerian Ismael was able to guide Rover to 5th place at the start of the January transfer window. Injuries hit and a Rovers failed to invest in the Janaury window causing Ismael to leave to reduce Barrow from relegation. Rovers are once again on the hunt for a new manager. So who do we think the next manager will be?

It'll be interesting to see what he goes with. Fully fit, it's not a bad squad, albeit very reliant on certain players (Travis, Tronstad, Brittain predominately due to being stand out performers and lack of depth in their position). Style of play did come into it They ended up finishing 10th And Watford Is Watford they go through managers Also widely reported that he had fall - outs with key players. Let’s move on. I think he’s very lucky to get the gig, but he’s here and all we can do is see what happens.
Popular Post jim mk2
At the risk of sounding Chaddy-esque I think we have to offer a warm welcome to the new manager. He wouldn't be most people's choice, and his track record is mixed to say the least, but we all want the team to do well and for that to happen we have to wish Ismael all the best. It will soon be easy to judge whether he is going to be a success of failure at Ewood: this isn't about next season or the season after, it's about the here and now. Rovers are in a playoff place and his job is to keep us there to the end of the season. If he can do that, then he'll deserve plaudits. If we fall away badly from our present position he'll deserve the brickbats Over to you Ismael.

Sure he's going to love what Rudy gives him over the summer. Edited February 25 by Hasta

Uddersfelt Blue
We all know it doesn’t really matter who the manager is. The Rovers manager wheel of fortune never stops on the jackpot prize (because its rigged)

Iceman
Personally think we should just run with the appointment, and wherever it takes us so be it. But, the off season, the protests should really be crazy wild heading into the new season. We just cannot progress anymore with Venkys in charge of this club

TruRover
I’m really surprised with how negative this board is about this appointment. Out of the realistic options he is probably in my top 3 (O’Neil was by far the best choice out there IMO). He makes teams hard to beat, aggressive on the press and quick in transition. Those are principals most fans can get behind. It’s also not dissimilar from our current set up, we need someone who could come in immediately and get results, rather than someone who would implement a new style of play. Ismael fits this profiles. He worked miracles at Barnsley before moving to West Brom, where he actually had them in the top 2 for most of the season before results fell off and they finished 5th. Watford was disappointing 100% but their record with managers says a lot. Chris Wilder was awful there. This is not me defending the board, sack them all. But this appointment could have been far worse. Let’s get behind him.

Uddersfelt Blue
Let’s get behind the new manager and the team. It’s not been plain sailing so far this season but the fans have been great in their support which Ismael can expect to continue if he gets the team to continue the good work.
