Yes, it’s interesting that we can keep all that lot, but not shell out for a top manager.

I love the wording of the club statement “gained further Championship experience at West Bromwich Albion and Watford” 🙂

I like David Lowe and company, but is it something we should look at, when a manager doesn't bring in his own backroom staff? I can't think of too many clubs, where they hire a manager, and he doesn't bring in his own complete team. 

Or is this how it is these days?

Eustace would have wanted a payrise. Ismael has taken a lower wage for longer.

Positive to see he adds Experience but Lowe and Johnson will form part of senior training staff. I believe this important and their influence integral

At best, I am whelmed.

Can’t really judge him on results until - I would say - Cardiff. He’ll be heavily relying on existing coaches for the weekend and Derby will be the first game where he’s had a good look at everyone.

Stoke will be a “what are these guys about” match, after which he’ll have an idea of who he can trust and who he can’t.

Again - whelmed. It’s a championship football manager, we’re a championship club. It’s not particularly ambitious, it’s not particularly unambitious.

I feel quite underwhelmed and concerned - granted he has champ experience but feels like a desperate hire 

I worry he will tinker with the system the players are comfortable with and we can kiss any hope of a top 6 goodbye 

ah well, the one consistent thing about Rovers these last 14 years is we always find a way to scrape the shit barrel - 3 weeks to appoint bloody Ismael….

Find this appointment a tad disappointing, if he really was the standout candidate out of 150 I find that quite depressing .. he wouldn’t have been my choice I thought there were better options out there but that said he is now the manager we have what 12 games left ? Let’s support the guy and the team and make a real effort to get in them playoffs

I understand that but can't imagine Ismaël would've signed a three-year deal without being given some sort of clarity / guarantees with regards to the contractual situation for basically half the squad. Either that or he's really desperate to get back into management.

Like everyone else, I wish him all the best but it's frustrating how slow the club is acting in key areas like player recruitment and replacement of a head coach.

Ok, he is here now, let’s see how we go. I’m not massively excited, but I’m not massively disappointed either, he was probably in the top 3 of realistic targets , cooper etc were probably fanciful given our current chaos behind the scenes. Much better than a boateng or boa morte type appointment

As per my previous post - he’s just gone from being unemployed to getting a gig that will guarantee him more than a million and a half quid, come what may.

Even I’d suck up Waggott’s bullshit for a while for that kind of dough.
