Is £11k-£12k a week less than market value for a Championship manager? (Genuine question as I’m not sure)

yes, its about 50% market value for an established manager

The same applies to players

Are you taking the piss?

Its a job to anyone and again cut backs mean we get someone rubbish.

Are you taking the piss with all negative all the time whether its team selection, links to potential head coach appointment, signings made.

We could appoint Klopp and you still something to moan and complain again.

You great at saying no, no and no to everything.

We are the playoffs place and despite what you thought we would be. This is good opportunity for promotion and if someone is coming here just for the money not the chance for promotion this season or next season to build their own team working with Gestede and Owen if we don't get promote then I don't want them here. I wanted a head coach who wanted to be here and build a team we can get behind and achieve what we want

The recruitment this season hasn't been as you suggest to be honest and let's be honest Gueye, Ohashi, Batth, Beck, Weimann, Baker were good signings, whilst Cantwell has been mixed and ACD and Toth not good enough. I take it you will of course disagree.

Yes we know what the contract situation is with Hyam, Travis, Tronstad and Brittain. We discussed it to death to be quite honest

I'm Surprised we are offering that much in wages. If people aren't interested cos of wages being offered and ignoring the opportunity to get a playoff place and promote, it's best not to appoint them.

Yeah, far better to go with the cheapest option, maybe someone like Coyle again,  cos that worked out well.

Thanks - do we know what Eustace was on?
I’d imagine less than average given the relative little experience and the likelihood of a decent pay rise at L1 bound Derby

Assuming that the figures quoted by Nixon is correct, £600K/year on wages is about £11,500/week

That is not much for a Championship manager/head coach position

We also offer very low wages (in comparison to the majority of the Championship)

Whilst we as fans think £15K/week is huge (and it is in comparison to normal life), the reality is that an average to good Championship player or Manager can easily ask for £20K-£30K/week, and get it.  Which is why Rovers struggle to agree new contracts for our top, established performers

If you take out clubs with PL parachute money I think 600k is about average championship head coach salary plus bonuses

That's why we target more the overseas markets for cheaper fees but similar quality of player

I would be confident that there are no more than 5 Championship managers on that kind of salary

Is it stupid?  yes

But because the riches of the Prem are always just a good season away, established Championship players and managers/head coaches can command ridiculous remuneration

I would go for at least 8 to 10 clubs.

But that’s the reality of your approach. If you don’t pay the going rate you likely end up with a shit manager, like Coyle.

Wake up

Not at all. You can appoint a good head coach for that money. FFS.

How is 600k not the going rate for mid table Championship club with a bottom 6 wage budget?

You have hit the nail on the head there

So now you can use logic and reason to work out that the other 18 clubs (who do not have a bottom 6 wage budget) are paying their employees more than that

and therein may lie another problem - what credible manager/head coach with some track record would want to work with Gestede and Owen who clearly are now so influential despite their lack of a credible track record and any evidence of success?  Would you work for a muppet?

When Brum appointed Rooney, I read a couple of reports stating Rooney would be on £1.5m which dwarfed Eustace's £450k.

I would think Eustace would be in the £500k to £600k range with Rovers.

We are way above in the league in terms of wages to actually league position cos of Eustace and the players out performing others with higher wage bills, plus success in targeting quality players from overseas on less wages

The fact that Rovers are overperforming is not under discussion, I think we would all agree that they are

The point you were arguing was that you stated that the £600K/year salary allegedly on offer was not well below market value for an average Championship club.

You then pivoted to say it was market value for a bottom 6 budget Championship club.  Which is correct

Nixon’s article is a non-story. It basically suggests he doesn’t have the inside line on what’s going on at Ewood. He clearly doesn’t know who the intended manager is and needed something to generate a few column inches and Patreon hits.

Plenty would. I said from day 1 I expect foreign head coach appointment. Still expect that like Wicky, Ismael or Niels Frederiksen to be the type of appointment unless we go for Edwards or Wellens.

Gestede and Owen will run the recruitment side of the club and tbh they have more than decent record of that
