New manager wishlist

Eustace's wage plus Derby's compo payment enables paying a better wage. Add in a thin scrape of the transfer fees received (and not spent!!!) and we should be able to pay anybody enough to be attractive. Managed decline, it's the only answer. Venky's must really hate us.

That does not change the fact that £600K/year is below the average amount that a Championship club would spend on that sort of appointment

I have already posted that the average Championship manager's salary was £800k 3 YEARS AGO.

What is the point in paying the likes of Siggy, Cantwell and Dennis £18/20k a week (£3millionish per annum) when you are scuttling round to find a manager on relatively a Home Bargains' budget!!!  Absolute madness and incompetence.

Feels like a very 2025 rovers signing. He won't be expensive, isn't likely to be waiting for a PL job and won't come in with a huge weight of expectation. The sticking point is presumably the cost of buying him out of his contract.

 

I wouldn't mind him overall looking at his record and experience, he appears a calm head with some legitimacy about him. There's a decent argument that's what we need rather than an unknown quantity who could be amazing or could be a disaster

I never will get that. Your manager is the most important person in the club. He should be the most highly paid.

600k wage for a manager is a joke, minimum we should be spending is 600k plus the 600k compo we’ve just received divided by say 3 year contract. 800k minimum. Always taking money out the club.

Nobody is getting sacked as manager here. That would need the Club to make a decision and pay people off. They'd rather we got relegated.

Only one sacking since 2013 and that was months too late which condemned us to League One.

Imagine not being able to attract a half decent manager to this club in this league position despite bringing in a 6 figure compensation sum for the last manager and having a real shot at promotion.

Just further evidence that they don't want promotion and they will happily waste the opportunity if it means saving a few quid.

The biggest selling point of this job right now is a good shot at the play-offs and they're struggling to attract candidates due to the wages on offer. It is just totally pathetic.

I know, let's waste the opportunity, wait until the summer to find someone by which time the job will be far less attractive with half the squad out the door and everyone starting again on 0 points.

I'm taking the Nixon story with a pinch of salt. There is probably truth in the salary info, but the other stuff about Lowe's chances of staying in the job getting a boost, and Adam Owen's involvement, etc....I think that's the part of the story where he's whacking the wasps nest amongst the fanbase to make the story sound more interesting. Plus, how have we suddenly gone in Nixons mind from interviewing final candidates in London to 'now struggling to bring someone in'....it doesn't make sense.

He's used the names of Cooper and O'Neil, who last managed premier league clubs. Well Rovers are unlikely to be able to match their previous salaries anyway.

To me this is a story to backtrack on the same person strongly naming Karanka as a final candidate only for LT to pour the coldest of water on that.

The salary figure is obviously not great in comparison to what most championship level managers are on, but is anyone that surprised by the club being cheap about it? I'm not.

On another point, I doubt Lowe even wants the job because when it inevitably goes tits up, he'll be shown the door as the scapegoat.

Adam Owen helping with the coaching side isn’t a big deal to me … after all he’s the clubs technical coaching director… Eustace took 2 coaches along with him we are short..Benson is with the goalkeepers mostly …. 

Hes got a vast knowledge & experience in this field and It’s wise to use it for now until a new boss is found … 2 wins out last 3 isn’t bad …..

I imagine Lowe would take it, sizeable pay increase (imagine how crap his present cone and bib wage is if we only pay c600k for a manager when in a PL play off place), get sacked, get a pay out and then put the cones out somewhere else if he fanci… oh shit, wait a minute, we don’t sack managers. 

Lowey with a job for life then - would fit well with operation managed decline though.
