Maybe give some people some thought over their original opinion of it being a poor choice or cheap choice

Skewed by two spells with Wolfsburg’s second team.
I’m more interested in his stats at WBA and Watford.

Even then , they are admittedly not too bad.

Lets see what happens.

The chances are , one way or another, that he won’t be here long, anyway.

Or maybe he get more of chance here. He was sacked at WBA when in the top 6 and Watford when they were 9th. Hardly shocking are they.

Have both clubs done any better after he left those clubs? Not really

if ismael lands at ewood,he deserves our support until the inevitable happens

he falls out with swag over the lack of contract renewals and budget

he bombs completely by trying to change the team shape to quickly

it`s an appointment to keep us out of the top six imo, though he may surprise everyone by being really good, can imagine swags face if that happens, the greasy one hires a **** manager and it backfires on him by rovers getting in the play offs and miracle wise winning them😂

If it is Ismael let's hope Gueye can stay fit, he'll be key to his general approach working this season. Of the candidates his approach is less likely to change what we have in a considerable way, if anything it will be further simplified and there will be even less playing out from the back. The worry is we become too easy to read and rely on hopeful long balls. I do think we have the players to potentially make it work though. I personally prefer him to Wagner, Karanka and some of the others that have been listed and as I said, I think he would cause the least upheaval in terms of how we set up and play between now and the end of the season.

Ok Chaddy, settle down.

It’s not all just about stats, it’s a whole picture, including feedback from supporters of the teams he’s managed.

I also acknowledged his stats at WBA and Watford aren’t too bad.

If you are happy with this potential appointment (rather than just trying to convince yourself), fair enough.

Others , like myself, clearly have reservations, and you have to accept that.

Trying to bulldoze people into changing their view is a waste of your time and energy.

Here’s hoping he’s a great success.

You put pasha on blast for wanting to hire someone cheap and then recommend Travis as player manager.

The mind boggles.

Cmon Travis as player manager? The lad Is having a terrific season and is clearly a leader but there is a lot more to being a head coach/manager than that

I wasn't really being serious about Travis but it would at least be an interesting experiment. I can't face another 'journey'

Valérien Ismaëls season at Barnsley was phenomenal, he jumped ship too soon for me and bombed at West Brom.

He’s obviously got something about him, he’s cheap and sadly will fail like every other manager has under these abhorrent owners.

Eustace was the right man, but we fooked it up.

VENKYS OUT - NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

As others have said, win percentage stats are not the best barometer. A lot of his games are with dominant 2nd teams in the German lower leagues. PASK are also dominant in their own country. You look at West Brom, they had just come down and he was sacked within the play offs but they expected a top 2 place. Man City have won more games than Bournemouth this season, but youd be hard pushed to say that Guardiola is doing better than Iraola. (Just this season)

You seem defiant and adamant that Ismael if appointed WILL 100% do a good job. Is that fair? You dont seem to have considered that he may not or raised any concerns.

I am underwhelmed but obviously its not a hopeless, disastrous appointment and it could have been worse.

He did a very good job at Barnsley to get into the play offs. And he has never totally bombed, he usually has a strong initial impact. He can be quite proactive in terms of making subs and his teams have to be fit.

But there are red flags. He doesnt stay at teams very long. There are reports of issues with his man management and his style can be predictable (and boring) and it has felt from his previous clubs that other teams have soon sussed it out. And I dont think he did a very good job at West Brom or Watford.

Do you acknowledge any of the above concerns, or have any of your own? Or are you 100% sure he is the perfect man for the job?

His Barnsley season was brilliant, but was during that COVID year. Not trying to take any credit away but that year was home to so many anomalies and freak results. Remember Bamford turning into Messi, Liverpool shipping 7 at Villa and numerous other crazy results and patterns. Conscious I'm perhaps being a bit harsh there as he did amazing and his record elsewhere is passable.

Will back him anyway, can't say I'm filled with knowledge about him but could be a good short termer if he gels with the squad.

Ismael is an interesting appointment.

He's not a bad manager and I expected much worse, but there were better candidates out there so ultimately it's a disappointing choice.

He does tick the box of getting teams punching above their weight, like he did at Barnsley, and he didn't do a bad job at Watford or West Brom.

He's not a yes man which is interesting. I was sure the board would go for a younger coach who would be happy to toe the line.

I can get onboard with his appointment.

Has he been confirmed?

Supporters views will change like the wind direction and I see people on social media starting to question Eustace's position cos we hadn't won for a few games.

WBA have form for sacking head coaches when in the playoffs place cos they did it to Darren Moore before, then Ismael

Watford have had 9 head coaches in 4 and half seasons. did well to last 9 months there

I mentioned his name after Eustace left as he was out of work, experience of championship, played 4-2-3-1 formation at Watford plus more of head coach than manager which suits our structure

I have accept that but I will take that you would have reservations if we appoint a Damien Duff or Rob Edwards, is that fair comment?

Not trying to do that but actually put facts out there showing that isn't what some people(not yourself) thinking this is cheap appointment

There are some appointments that would be universally welcomed, some that would bring a mixed reaction, and some widespread derision.

I would put this potential appointment somewhere between the second and third categories.

What I’m currently seeing is a lot of people trying to convince themselves this could work out ok.

It could.

You just get a feeling whether something feels right or it doesn’t, and to me, this doesn’t.

If nothing else, let’s hope for some new manager bounce.
