I get the impression all these hangers on just turn up every day, go through the motions then bugger off home. Succession planning? No chance - that would require some work. They're reactive rather than proactive.

might as well get used to him...

can see initial good vibes, but can also see how after a few months he might start to grate on people

Like the emphasis on shooting when the goal is in sight.

JDTball and JEball had too much walking it into the net.

Reducing side to side passing is all very well but it increases the risk of turnovers and with Pears in goal, we haven't got a keeper who can reliably bail us out.

I think we could see some sexy football the amount of times he asked them to penetrate in that video

We only need a few months of good vibes to be fair, if he gives us a playoff tilt before it goes sour then I'll take it

"Maximum two touches" - some of our players are going to be in tears.

Square square?  At least there was no backwards mentioned.  Two touches a la JDT ball.

Sacked by Watford 354 days ago on 9 March 2024 - if that is not "almost 12 months" then I don't know what is!

I’m guessing you completely missed or ignored the bit where I said ‘my bad’ as I’d mixed him and corberan up!!!

Didnt expect to see posters falling over themselves boasting about recruitment that they have done in the past for their companies as a means of justifying/criticising the recruitment of a manager by a (dysfunctional) football club. But there you go.

Isn't that what JDT tried to implement, or was that get rid of it within 3 seconds or something? When it worked great, when it didn't it was a shit show.

JDT was stats driven so shoot when in the right positions; just around the penalty spot. That's how he coached more goals into Szmodics.

Problem was/is getting there.

Me neither, but for what it's worth my recruitment policy is try to choose someone who has been recommended for the role, by someone you know and trust.

I have not yet sacked anyone, or had anyone leave on bad terms in over 30 years, of being in business.

Change of employment application should normally take less time than a totally new application, no?

Eh? How many people have you hired?

Leadership / Execs standard = wishlist plus applicants sift, get down to a midsize list 10x, first iv’s (online), Get 10 down to 5 and then do second interviews (f2f) for the final group. Review and select successful candidate / finalise. 2-4 weeks Standard process.

Dozens across a 40+ years' professional career across industry, commerce and private practice.  Yep, I made a handful of mistakes but also appointed a lot of good guys and gals, 3 of whom made it 'big' and are presently directors (2 senior and 1 board) in FTSE 100 companies.

And you?

I was challenged about how many folk I'd hired with the strong inference being I knew naff all about recruitment.

In response, I merely outlined what I had done with some success.

My response was not 'falling over myself boasting about recruitment'.  If I had wanted to boast, there are a lot more success stories I could have added.

I think he was telling them not to always pass it square wasn't he rather than to pass it square

I doubt it as the work permit application (to the FA) is a new one  (the change of employment application relates to Home Office requirements.)

One thing that’s not really been discussed with Eustice was that it was obviously clear to the board he was leaving pre January transfer window. So what effect did the knowledge of leaving have on January transfer activity or lack of. Knowing potential change of coaching team and financial implications hardly drives desire to change squad does it

Not in the Championship, (or above), he wouldn’t.

Why wouldn't he get a job in the championship?

Excellent at Barnsley.

Watford is a death trap for a manager and was 9th when sacked

West brom had just come down from the Premier league and their fans reckoned they should have been playing champagne football, 5th and only 8 points off top 2 when sacked.

I'm not assed about style of play, results is what I care about and Ismaels results have not been terrible at any club.

Do I think we could do better ?Yes If we would pay a bit more

But it just isn't the case that he wouldn't have interest from clubs in the championship if he didn't get a job here

Happened to me before mate, a few people belittling others thinking they have superior knowledge on everything.

In reality no idea on corporate background of anyone.
