New manager wishlist

Recommended Posts

I would love Big Sam back, especially after that cheeky wink at the end of that clip, but there is no chance in hell Venky’s would allow that. I genuinely don’t know who I would pick out of that Nixon list. I just know that I don’t rate O’Neil.

Carvalhal, Currently in Portuguese top flight, so why would he bother, how could we afford? Also more clubs than Tiger Woods, he'd be off in no time.

Karanka, please god no, it rhymes with Karanka. Shite.

O'Neil - I would be so, so underwhelmed. He doesn't have the experience of doing what we want a manager to do in our position.

I find it strange that a no mark hack like Nixon plucks some names out of thin air and it even gets to a discussion stage. He was so late to the party about Eustace and jumped on the bandwagon with some nonsense about him applying for other jobs.

He is a chancer of the highest order.

Careful Tony, you'll hurt chaddy's feelings. His luvin with Nixon is real don't you know 🥰

Venkys wouldn't know or care is my guess.

Feels like this list has been leaked so that when they appoint Edwards, we'll all be happy.

Edwards would be an obvious choice to me. Promotion with Luton under his belt, championship experience, free to start straight away.

Can get him in tomorrow for me.

The end of Wickys' tenure at Young Boys was truly honking, to which they've not yet recovered. Young Boys have won the league 7 times in the last 10 years so a relatively successful spell there is nothing to write home about.

It will be O'Neill or Edwards, both out of work, can start immediately and likely to be desperate to get back into a job before their names disappear into the hat of out of work ex-prem managers

I think Pasha would inform them if it was a discussion and I think they would care. Not because they care about the club, but after sacking him when we were in the Prem, their egos would not allow it.

I don't know how true this is as I'm at work (or how relevant), but apparently Lee Carsley has gone from 12/1 to 2/1 within the last half hour at the bookies?

Stupid gamble for both parties that.

Usually doesn’t mean much, Duncan Ferguson was evens for it at one point and thank every deity going that didn’t lead to anything

It's quite a small betting market, so a few small bets here and there can distort the odds very quickly because bookies try and prevent ITKs from rinsing them. If a few of us on here went and put a few hundred quid each on someone at long odds like Rooney their odds would plummet, even if we know there's no chance they're coming.

Just takes a few decent bets and that's what happens,

Be amazed if there's anything in that,

I’ve had a look at Rob Edwards stats whilst at Luton in the Championship.

He took over in November 2022 and gained promotion in May 2023.

During that time Luton won 14 games, drawn 2 and lost 8.

On return to the Championship this season he won 7 games, drawn 4 and lost 14.

In total he’s won 21, drawn 6 and lost 22 out of possible 49 games, which gives him a win percentage of 42.85%

Its seems that Rovers have had this shortlist given Nicko hints since Sunday.

Wicky was close to getting the WBA job before but broke down over one of his coaching staff wouldn't come and his GK coach he wanted couldn't get a work permit. I could get behind that but whether he would come with his own choice of staff I don't know. Hopefully we been talking to him off the record and seeing whether he will come or not without his own staff. If not, moved on very quick.

O'Neil, It is someone I think would be good choice for me but doubts whether he would fit our footballing structure and whether he would accept those terms

Carvalhal has always been a head coach who doesn't stay long at any clubs and I'm not sure that sort of appointment is right for the club

Karanka,, had success at Boro but his man-management skills seems to be possible a problem plus his lack of success since that promotion at Boro

I would like a new head coach in by Friday cos we have a good chance of top 6 and the right appointment could make this happened. Its seem that the search for the Eustace's replacement is being done by Gestede and Owen who I guess with make their choice to recommend to Pasha who then will decide yay or nay.

I'm not surprised that it is mainly foreign shortlist given that they will work under Gestede has Head of Football operations and Owen has head of Technical development, whilst having little say in transfers. I'm not sure O'Neil would accept that but you never know.

For what it is worth - I don’t think it will be any of those managers except for O’Neil

Karanka and Wicky aren’t Waggott appointments for me

I am thinking it will be out of O’Neil or Edwards

Reckon Duff is a go-er too. He would jump at the job, fans love him, would be cheap. I'd be surprised if they were not thinking about it, especially as relegation is off the cards.

Carsley also if he wanted it, but I think he really enjoys being England U21 manager - must be one of the best jobs in football that. No pressure, travel the world, develop a style of play, enhance players.

This paragraph is why we will never, ever succeed at anything with these characters making such crucial decisions.
