This paragraph is why we will never, ever succeed at anything with these characters making such crucial decisions.

Wonder what Owen does all day?

I reckon he starts with ‘Lorraine’, then a bit of ‘This Morning’, before turning over for ‘Homes under the Hammer’ and ‘Bargain Hunt’.

Then over to Channel 4 for ‘Countdown’, before finishing back on ITV with ‘Deal or no Deal’.

Wonder if anyone has actually ever seen him or knows who he is?

The bookies would respond to any bets, and I wouldn't imagine many bets have been placed. So a shift would be quite normal until more bets are made. With only one bookmaker offering odds.

I don't think it will be Carsley.

Not fussed with it. Same as I was with Eustace, JDT, Mowbray etc until I saw how they managed.

International youth football is nothing like Club management, maybe he will start Tyjon every game though!

Carsley ticks the boxes for Waggot and Venkys, he's spent his career working with youth players. That appointment would be for horse trading only, academy players sold for big bucks, promotion would be a pipedream. But the advertising and spin, England manager etc etc.......🙄

Anyway, until the owners leave the manager is irrelevant, to let a manager walk who has us in the playoffs on a shoestring budget is criminal, its another absolute shit show.

The first question should be "does the manager have a reputation to lose or other potential future options".

Carsley is a yes. Therefore I doubt he will happen.

It will be somebody who feels they need to prove themselves again and fears they will struggle to get an opportunity.

After looking at Wikipedia (yeah I know…) I wouldn’t mind him coming. Might be another one ala Eustace (who I did not want….how wrong I was). He’s done ok as interim manager in clubs not unlike Rovers when it comes to the madhouse factor, so that would imply he’d be able to do some work here. Not necessary head coach for 3 years but in the interim untill summer? Sure. Get him in. Not my first choice, but look at where we are. Can and probably will do worse.

I asked again, who else would you like to see on the shortlist? Any names? Any?

As I have said, its all very depressing. All of the names are a downgrade on Eustace so its not something to be excited about. Maybe Edwards is the least bad option.

I get that to be fair, you have been critical of the club. But I just dont get how you can be like, oh well, lets decide between these no marks and get into the play offs as if nothing has happened.

Karanka in particular would be a terrible appointment. I have said in a different context before about O'Neil, you have seen Wolves go from ill disciplined mess conceding goal after goal from set pieces to much improved since he left. Carvalhal isnt going to leave Braga. No idea about Wicky but doesnt sound like he left his last club in good shape.

In fairness, Eustace also seemed like a downgrade at the time of his appointment, but didn't turn out to be.

Lee Carsley? Where on earth has that link come from?

A weird one to say the least and should have a wealth of experience given his tenure in league football and international + his stint as the England Interim manager...

You didn't want Eustace in the first place either.

You complained about the rumour shortlist, but can't one single name who you would like which I find totally baffing

Cos we are 6th and we have a good chance of playoff if we select the right candidate we can do, I still believe that there is 2 places in playoffs for someone to grab. Rovers should be making a quick decision and before Saturday game for me.

what your view on Lee Carsley?

I don't often agree with Chaddy but all he is asking is that everyone on here who is saying all the names on the list are unacceptable (and I agree they are hardly exciting) should name who they think should be on the list. Not seeing many people replying to Chaddy on that.

Karanka would be an appalling appointment on a par with Coyle in 2016. Apart from a single heavily bankrolled promotion 8 years ago with Boro he's done absolutely nothing. Was an absolute disaster at Brum and since then has been out of work. Wouldn't be surprising though because the January window showed that Guestede hasn't a clue.

I think part of the problem is the status of the club means that desirable names are fanciful at best.

Steve Cooper would be great but can be discounted. I'd love Carsley but I think he's well beyond us.

Rob Edwards would be fine.

Karanka, O'Neil and the like are plain upsetting.

For the 1000th time: not having their own suggestions doesn't disqualify people from forming an opinion on those suggested.

Agree - but then they probably shouldn't be having a go at Chaddy for taking a different view?

For what it's worth in my view a sensible operation would do one of two things here:

- go for broke and pay someone like Cooper (with his track record at this level) enough to get him in and go for the playoffs

- accept not getting in the playoffs, put someone like Johnson in to end of season (with help the senior players such as Baath) and make a decision in the summer.

Unfortunately we are anything but a sensible operation so god knows what will happen 😨

Do you think that any of those WITHOUT the striker you called for and allowing for the disruption in between that can get us in the play offs?

Thats a lie on Eustace. I considered him to be a sensible appointment and more befitting of the circumstances than Tomasson. But again the bigger picture was a mess.

Carsley again a big risk as hes a manager of kids.

Its more frustration at the situation though. Maybe there isnt anyone who could be on par with Eustace. Even the better options such as Edwards have a feel of the least bad.

Wicky's move to West Brom fell through because he wanted to bring his backroom staff.

We have Benson, Lowe and Johnson who seem to have lifetime contracts here.

Another proper bizarre Venkys move.

How have they survived for so long. Makes no sense at all.

I hear you and agree in a general sense when it comes to 'Venky Rovers', but the flip side of that coin is this: When would an out of work manager ever get a free hit at a club currently sitting in the top six (however poorly run), in a poor division, with a big promotion bonus?
