Wicky's move to West Brom fell through because he wanted to bring his backroom staff.

wrong here, his move through fell through as one of his staff wouldn't come to WBA and another one couldn't get a UK work permit Tommy

I hear you and agree in a general sense when it comes to 'Venky Rovers', but the flip side of that coin is this: When would an out of work manager ever get a free hit at a club currently sitting in the top six (however poorly run), in a poor division, with a big promotion bonus?

Are you assuming Waggott would include a promotion bonus!

Yeah I think that's what might mean we get someone who isn't a horror show, even if it's only on a short term deal.

When I think about Eustace getting us into the top six with a mix table squad I don't believe he had some magic wand but simply understands the Championship and how to get results in it. When I see the likes of Dyche, Parker and Wilder (who have got several promotions between them) I don't see wonderful tacticians or anything statistic driven but down to earth football men. For the three of them staying in the Premier League was far more difficult and they essentially failed but from a Rovers perspective just getting there would hopefully rid us of the Venky curse.

So I don't really want anybody who has ideas above his station and has his whole ethos about getting results anyway or anyhow.

They'd offer this, then I guarantee they wouldn't pay it.

Anyone with half a brain would, and I'm pretty sure that includes Waggott. Unfortunately he has to get that sort of forward thinking past the real villain of the piece at Ewood, Pasha.

Just on the emboldened bit and without the intention of belittling JE’s work - the current difference between top six and mid table is 3 points.

Yes. Which means he didn't want to go. Same same.

I'm not an expert in the betting market, but from 10/1 24hrs ago (below link) into even money favourite now is a hell of a jump for Lee Carsley. Can't see how that can be just a few big bets. Surely, someone's heard something for that to shift/the people to put the bets on:

The gap was much larger before our tiny squad made us drop all those points in January.

These markets have such little liquidity that you can move them very easily.

It would only take a couple of hundred pounds to move someone from double figures to near odds on. There will be fairly low max stake limits with most bookies, so it's not as big of an indicator as you might think.

Do you think that any of those WITHOUT the striker you called for and allowing for the disruption in between that can get us in the play offs?

I suggested Dennis during the window didn't I?

Also I have said more than once, we are 6th currently, made a quick sensible appointment and we can get a playoff place. Its wide open.

Thats a lie on Eustace. I considered him to be a sensible appointment and more befitting of the circumstances than Tomasson.

Fair enough, I was wrong.

Carsley again a big risk as hes a manager of kids.

You enjoyed saying nay never yay isn't it? 🤔

Its more frustration at the situation though. Maybe there isnt anyone who could be on par with Eustace. Even the better options such as Edwards have a feel of the least bad.

You slammed the shortlist, when asked for who would you like on the shortlist, you can't suggest even just one single name.

I will say this, I don't see one outstanding candidate out there currently in the UK market, who I think he is the right fit us, like I did with Eustace.

It was 8 points on 1st January which surprises me as it means teams haven’t closed as quickly as I would have assumed.

The point I was trying to make, possibly badly, is  the difference between being a manager/team on the edge of the play-offs or in middle table is only a result or two.

Again I wasn’t meaning to belittle JE, I can’t think of any manager/head coach (for Chaddy 😁) who would definitely have us higher.

Only at Rovers do the managers/head coaches not get to choose their own staff.

Proper strange.

its quite normal that a new head coach would bring 1 or 2 of his own staff then work with the rest of the staff already at the club like GK coach and fitness coach

It is however if we got in the playoffs by any margin it would have been (and still might be) a real achievement. I think the vast majority of supporters accept he has squeezed every drop from this squad.

No it isn't. I said Wicky didn't go to West Brom because he wanted his staff with him.

He wasn't able to bring his staff with him therefore he didn't take the job.

One of his staff didn't want to come to WBA

the other staff couldn't get a work permit here.

That is the fact of the situation

Its not a criticism of you though. "Slammed the shortlist." The situation is dire, the likely candidates are all considerable downgrades on Eustace.

Which if any of Karanka, O'Neil, Carvalhal and Wicky would you see as good appointments and as appointments that give us a chance of a top 6 place?

Ill give you my answer. Of the 3 I know, I wouldnt want any with Karanka the worst and none would get us into the play offs.

So did he take the West Brom job?

Or did he turn it down because he couldn't take his staff?
