The story is on the Derby County Fans Forum. Eustace said ‘“ he wanted to savour the atomosphere “ or words to that effect.

Apologies, I thought you were on about Gerrard.

I think the same too - he's instantly recognisable. I think it's a rumour that has been passed around and probably exaggerated with each person.

Believe what you want to believe mate. Go on the Derby County Fans Forum and you’ll see it in his own words. He was gone anyway, why not turn up to watch the game ?

As per my post above, I thought you were on about Gerrard. I can certainly believe Eustace was there, think he confirmed it himself as you said

No problem, we were talking at cross purposes. I’ve no idea about Gerrard but Eustace was definitely at the Derby game in midweek.

Worth me clarifying I don't believe the text I got about Gerrard, I think someone's seen his odds go down and has put 2 and 2 together to make 10. The text was forwarded as 'someone in hospitality' which probably tells you all you need to know.

I could see a big name like Gerrard appealing to the owners. They've always craved a big name at the club going back to the nonsensical days of thinking they had a chance of signing Ronaldinho etc.

There's no way the board will want Gerrard though, they'll want someone they can easily control.

If Skybet have removed the odds from their site, does that mean they're now sure someone is set to be appointed? Or does it not really mean anything?

I'm not too sure how it works tbh.

I don't think it means much. They tend to take it off and add it back, and it only takes a few small stake bets for the odds to tumble. Might be someone else who knows more than me though!

I would be furious if we appointed someone like Boa Morte or Boateng

In the interests of a good night’s sleep, I advise you against checking the latest odds 😱

If its a Gerrard or an O'Neil that ilk I'd like them. If it's a boating then we may as well stick with lowe till the summer and recruit properly

Need to be very careful here in who we hire. Part of me says Gerrard should be the choice, I think he would fit in well with the lads. Carsley and Duff both appealable too.

Its definetly not boring following Rovers

Gerrard is a big no thank you for me. Not proven anything so far and probably relient on others to do his coaching for him.

Someone with 9 posts claiming Duffer has been interviewed. Yeah, sure......

Dalglish relied on Harford to do the coaching for him and that turned out ok

Yes, but I believe times are a bit different and that's where the comparison between Dalglish and Gerrard ends as well. RIght?

They're both Liverpool legends

I wouldn't be against Gerrard either.

Think it'll be a left field appointment from Europe though. Whether thats good or bad, i'm not sure.

Being a little facetious here, but Gerrard could be the perfect candidate to rid us of Venkys.

A media darling like that choosing to walk out of the job after only another 12 months would really set alarm bells ringing and set Sky’s journalistic dogs howling at the ownership.

I’d almost appoint him for that reason alone.

I also feel he wouldn’t actually need to ‘manage’ this side. He just needs to ‘Captain’ it with encouragement and siege mentality. Being an idol of Travis’ would go a long way to getting complete buy-in from the rest of the squad too.

Sidenote: Trav is now of an age (and improvement in ability) where I hope he becomes a rare one-club player. He loves the club, and is proving himself a fucking superb captain. I think we will all look kindly on his place in our history, even if it has been under the ownership of these cunts.

Exactly why I'd be behind Gerrard, the bigger the name vs the owners the better.

Wouldn't say no to Gerrard either, whether he would work under the Pune Loons is another matter.

Convinced he would. Opportunity to manage a team up the road from Liverpool, who are 5th and have good ties with club... Scouser currently in charge aswell who would be his number 2.

More reasons for him to want it than not.

Don't think Gerrard is even in there thinking.

Plus Boateng etc much cheaper and will toe the party line.

He also might have some Saudi contacts that could buy the V's out.
