If we did want Wellens, which I hope we don't, why would paying £250k compensation be a stumbling block when we've just collected reportedly 2-3 times that from Derby for Eustace?

Where has that money gone so quickly?

It really doesn't bode well for the future if we are baulking at appointing a League One manager (Not that I'd want him) based on his compensation figure

I wonder how much tactical adjustments will be done. Eustace has found a good recipe for grinding out results but we often struggle in matches like yesterday where we enjoy more of the possession and dictate the game. A coach/manager like Martin would probably make changes instantly and I think we would struggle to adapt. 

 

I'm a little torn, sticking with Lowe might give us more of the same as under Eustace, whereas the right appointment might evolve us to something even better - especially now as the squad is starting to look a bit stronger again.

A key consideration is whether Lowe will have what it takes to deal with the playoffs from a head coach position. The likelihood is it'll take experience. Obviously it's somewhat of a lottery but you can certainly weight it in your favour. On the other hand, a new manager could disrupt things enough to mean play offs don't even become a factor. It's a fine balancing act but I'm sure the choice made won't be some kind of nuanced decision with who we have deciding, unfortunately. I'm personally completely undecided on what I want at the moment. There's names I don't fancy but that's about it.

We need someone in this week ahead of the Swansea game.

I appreciate the job done by Lowe and Johnson and inevitably they will remain closely involved behind the scenes whatever happens next. If we had 3-4 games remaining I'd be tempted to just keep them on and see what happens now but with 14 games remaining there is just too much ahead of us - games, points, work - to leave it to chance.

We've got ourselves into a position now where anything beneath 6th has to be considered a massive disappointment. With the exception of Coventry's good run nobody behind us is accelerating and teams we expected to be pushing - Middlesbrough and West Brom are dropping points.

It is there for the taking. It needs someone who can command the respect of the players and fans and who knows how to handle the pressure and get over the line. Suggestions of Boa Morte and Boateng are so ridiculous my only conclusion if true is that it would be a deliberate attempt to take us away from the top 6.

David Lowe seems to be a good bloke but I put the last two results down to a good set of lads showing some solidarity and possibly some anger towards having felt somewhat abandoned by the previous regime and a spirit of "we'll show 'em"

That spirit will only take us so far and if we appoint Lowe next week and lose the next two matches we'll have a long time to regret his appointment. 

I would like to see a no nonsense manager who knows how to get promoted from the Championship given a short contract until the end of the season, with a sizeable financial incentive and a promise to discuss the future in the summer when we are preparing for a season in the top flight.

That’s a really bad list when you think it’s probably currently the best available job in English football. A chance to get to the premier league (although you’ll be working under clowns).

Id actually be pretty disappointed with anyone on that list. Yep, Ricky doesn’t even want Wicky!!

Gerrard would be decent as a whole, though I can also see an interesting scenario on the back of such an appointment; Gerrard is obviously a big household name… and as we all know, the Venky’s aren’t dissimilar to your average 10 year old, largely uninterested, casual fan - when it comes to football.

If he comes in it’s possible that they’ll show a slight interest again, imagine they’d invite him over to meet them or even offer a little backing… some might consider that a good thing, most (including myself) would see it as a bad thing in the long run, as we need these muppets gone.

At the moment the players are doing the business on the understanding there'll be a new man coming in. Maybe the club leaks info like this so that when someone like Karanka is appointed the fans will be a bit relieved that at least it's not someone like Boateng or Boa Morte.

Out of those 12 I'd only be reasonably happy with Duff or Gerrard ( neither of whom seem likely to me) or ok with O'Neil and Carsley. The other 8 I'd be gutted with.

How did you know it was and come across a Venkys advisor, out of interest?

"Another line on the P&L" doesnt really make sense but it is clear that they do treat us with the total disregard that you suggest. They couldnt give a shit about us and their lapdog essentially said as such in a recent fans fans forum by saying they wont be coming any time soon as they have more important matters to attend to.

Boateng’s only real link to the club is he’s worked here previously. 
 

No idea where Boa Morte has come from, presumably his agent?

Both make zero sense unless they’re great mates with Rudy or something, which I also doubt. 
 

A couple with obvious rovers links then the rest just managers that have appeared in the betting for the last few vacancies at other teams. In short I wouldn’t read anything at all into these odds.

Sounds evil to us, business to them. Can't defend how a company thousands of miles away can wreak a football club.
