I couldn’t see Duff lasting till the summer TBH…he strikes me as a “furious ball of energy” guy who would find the structure here to be “sub-optimal” *

*That’s a euphemism for “telling a lot of people what he thinks of them..” 😁

He’s probably what we need for that reason…but…

Yeah, there was quite a bit of talk about him for the ROI job when it last came up.

Apparently the Irish FA is in a right state and most Irish commentators regard Duff as someone who doesnt suffer fools gladly - and that's putting it mildly. They said he wouldn't last 5 minutes in that job.

So for the same reason cant see it happening here either. Might be hugely entertaining while it lasted though.

I hope it doesnt.

It makes no sense whatsoever to be interviewing Boateng either as a potential Head Coach or as an assistant without having a HC in place.

It’s not wholly inconceivable that a candidate has said “I would want George too…” & so they’ve spoken to GB to interview him…

If its a foreign head coach they are hiring perhaps they want someone with some experience of coaching at this level alongside him hence the supposed interest in Boateng as a number 2.

I agree the new man should be allowed pick his own staff tho

The Coventry experience doesn't fill you with confidence even as a number two.

Do you think Makhtar and Ohashi would understand his accent? 😂

You'd imagine we'd be in the same boat for a manager as Middlesborough. We should have the edge if anything.  You just know that Middelsborough will sack , Carrick and employ someone before we do and probably steal what we'd all see as a option for us.

We're not even in the same ocean as Boro.

I bet they're gagging for another Mowbray type who is content to plod along in 12th to 15th drawing his salary and who wont put them under any pressure regarding new signings or contract renewals etc.

They want a coach but keep accidentally appointing managers…

(Puts on Lloyd Grossman "Through the keyhole" voice)

"Who would work with a Coach like that?"

I don't know anything about Boatengs ability as a coach

But Robins and Coventry wouldn't have appointed him as a favour, he must have shown some  qualities.

Coventry started last season poorly aswell, I wouldn't put their early season  form down to him being assistant coach

Wouldn't surprise me if they went for jimmy floyd hasslebank as number 1 with boeteng as number 2

JFH was linked with the manager's job in the past for some unknown reason. I think from memory the only possible reason for the link might have been the Agency who represented him (our old mates HSH) but I could be wrong on that.

Links to Boateng have a similar sort of feel about them.- the old Boro connection

Has anybody confirmed that Boateng HAS been interviewed?

What makes you so sure that Gestede and Owen are solely in charge of our next appointment?

You asked me a similar question yesterday so why the same question again.

I reckon in my opinion, Owen and Gestede will the first round of interviews with candidates then narrow them down to final 3 before Pasha and Waggott joined Gestede and Owen to interview the final 3 and make their first choice an offer to coach our team.

I think anxiety will build the longer without an appointment - it looks chaotic. The club should have a shortlist of six managers constantly under review and now be working their way through that to work out who's the best fit. 13 (hopefully 16) game contract, appoint Tuesday/Wednesday, first game Swansea. Job done, tyvm.

anxiety? mostly on here to be honest and people wanting to rush

I agree but stress the need for a quick appointment. Dragging it out beyond Swansea raises anxiety and uncertainty which is what we don't need. Cracks will start to show in the fanbase and squad. Very quickly the club should be able to find the top six candidates who are viable then interview and appoint (hopefully by Wednesday).

why is the need for quick appointment?

Lowe and the players are united. 2 wins on the bounce have allowed them time to find the right appointment.

Also, that scenario relies on the assumption that the club has been swamped by big name applications that they couldnt have expected.

IF the likes of Boateng and Boa Morte are being interviewed, and thats obviously a big if. Then they arent extras that we couldnt have possibly forseen applying for.

the club has had over 150 applicants for this job, you have had some good head coaches applying for job.

Boateng and Boa Morte haven't been interviewed according to Alan Nixon. This story has come from Alex Crook and Graeme Bailey

A head coach should be able to choose his own assistant.

A foreign head coach might not number 2 and his own staff or wants to have staff used to this league.

Nixon has said Boateng hasn't been interviewed at all, so people need to calm down.

this, wtf is he supposed to say when the panel ask him about his previous experience of play offs and promotions?

Have you hired a football manager before in your role as CEO of a professional football club? You seem to know a lot about how it ‘actually works’.

I’ve / my companies have hired over 10k people across varying roles and industries  from Admin assistants, to CEO’s with salaries from £20k p/a to $1m p/a - Never a football manager (yet), but yeah, I’m probably not a million miles off 👍🏼

Not as far as Im aware.

He just suddenly went very short in the betting for some reason.

I know that''s far from definitive, but are we not allowed to react to that or express our opinion or something?

The silence at Ewood is deafening, which is how it should be.

Nicko says when asked about whether Boateng has been interview " Only as a possible assistant to the right number one"

So you’ve no experience in hiring a football manager👍
