Why did they not run a similar process when searching for JDT's successor and instead got Eustace sorted out very quickly? Did they not have 100+ applicants back then?

I suspect the answer to that is that Broughton was involved in getting JDT and Eustace in and both happened quickly and professionally, whereas prior to Broughton arriving and now we see a totally different approach, quite shambolic.

In their efforts to make this managerial 'search' appear thorough and professional by referring to interviews and CVs coming in all they are doing is digging a deeper hole for themselves when they end up leaving Lowe in charge or hand it to another friendly face/linked agency client.

You're probably right, but we are also infinitely more attractive now than we were 12 months ago. Of that there is no doubt.

We should now appeal to every Championship manager who has yet to have a real shot at the Premier League and every Premier League manager who has made their living in the bottom half of the table. Plus a host of foreign managers looking to break into England.

And, not to be a Broughton defender, but it is where the DoF + Head Coach approach has another huge advantage.

Do we have a clear system now? A style we want to keep? An approach for the future in terms of types of players signed? No. So we have no easy criteria to use to sort applicants.

I am very pleased the Boateng and Boa Morte rumours have calmed.

i remain uninspired by the Oneil rumours as he comes across as a bit bland and has little Championshop experience.

I personally don't think theres any rush and I'm in the 'if it isn't broke don't fix it camp'.

I'm happy to rely on the players to self police unless the wheels fall off.

We lost loads of games under Eustace. If we lose to Swansea it's not Lowes fault. We could easily lose any game under a new manager.

Meanwhile if we keep playing with this energy, quality and intensity, it would be absolutely foolhardy to change things just for the sake of change.

Let's see what happens at Swansea. 100% records are not to be sniffed at and its perfect timing for us to be gaining maximum points.

So if we lose a game under Eustace it's Eustace's fault and if we lose one under  it's not Lowe's fault.

Lol.

We have so called "management" sifting through 100's of applications in their 9 till 5, 5 day a week, early finish Friday (under) commited managerial posts.

If they know who we want, get him.

Correct. Sifting through lots of applications is for run of the mill joba where you've no idea who any of the applicants are.

We should have our targets in mind before any applications even come in and approach them in order of preference.

I'm sure Waggott would love nothing better than to leave Lowe in charge. 500k banked plus the savings on Eustice's wages. I feel there is an element of dragging their heels to see if he can pull another win or two out the bag, and allow the calls for him to grow.

We need a manager asap:

1. Lowe has done a faultless job thus far, but he has been very open that we've been playing to the tactical setup installed by Eustice. As time goes on, without reinforcement the muscle memory of the system begins to fade.

2. Lowe has done the right thing with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it approach", but the time we will really need a leader is when things go wrong. He's not faced that test as a manager. Ever. Given his lack of experience the liklihood is we'd regret the decision if he were left in charge.

3. The situation has been covered that we're an attractive short-term job. Long-term, not so much. If we leave Lowe in charge and don't win promotion, we've missed an opportunity. The job will not be attractive in the summer. It also leads to another summer of uncertainty, no forward planning and being once again stuck in reaction mode. This is especially critical if anybody at the club ever decides to lift a finger and try to negotiate contract renewals.

Of course, all this could just be me theorising and the reality is, Waggott and co don't know what they're doing/are lazy with zero sense of urgency. It's utterly ridiculous that the main interview process is yet to begin!

Before JDT arrived Waggott spent weeks looking for a new head coach without success.

he knows **** all about football or it`s characters,it`s very dangerous letting that **** pick a manager,he`d reject zidane and choose ryan lowe, honestly,if maggot is in charge of the selection process,it will be someone who`s cheap and out of work

The new you, I like it 😉

I noticed you are not unhappy if we keep Lowe on. It just feels decent. Six from six suggests the players think that also.

If we are nine from nine after Swansea there is no point overengineering things and trying to be cute. When the short term answer is staring us in the face.

Bet Man Ure thought that before they appointed Solskjaer permanently.

Confirmed no investment of the money received for Wharton.

Szmodics sold and not reinvested.

Never ending court case being adjourned to halt funding.

No existing players seemingly offered new contracts for over a year.

Half the squad currently leaving in the summer. Other key players leaving as it stands in 2026.

Other than league position, it’s a clearly less attractive than last year. If we don’t go up there looks to be an impossible job on.

Lol.

We could get a new manager tomorrow and lose three on the spin. We could keep Lowe and lose three on the spin.

All that is hyhypothetical. What is factual is two wins on the trot under Lowe. And its come at the perfect time.

This is feckin unbelievable.

Process smacks of cluelessness.

Smart operators would have had this done and dusted before the Plymouth game.

Do you expect anything else from our shambolic set up?

I'm half impressed they've been able to contact people for an interview.

What are you saying Rev? Who do you want?

We'd both love Allardyce back for a crack, but it might go belly up hoofing it up to Gueye. We play a nice style at times courtesy of JDT.

Warnock might keep the momentum going but these are both old men.

I said early make Travis / Tronstad joint player manager. Do something that has some meaning to all concerned.

Karanga, O'Neil, Lowe, Edwards, Wellens and the myriad of other managers out of work won't really cheer any of us up. Some foreign bloke won't either.

Boateng or Boa Morte would be upsetting.

Duff and Lowe would be supported by the fans. Gérard would give us profile and be a statement of intent.

I'm not ITK but was told by someone yesterday it was Wellens that we want.

Out of all the names in this post who maintains our spirit and harmony the most? That is the question I want to be addressed.

------

United are 11 places above us in the football league. After waxing 2 billion and more in the last decade. Hard to be successful in this industry.

I'd be hesitant to describe hiring a manager for a football club as over engineering.

By luck or design, the fact we have won two on the bounce with very decent performances has bought us some time. I'm happy Lowe gets another go away at Swansea. Fingers crossed we are all celebrating three on the trot.

Regardless, I'd much rather they were diligent and gave it considered thought. It remains a prestigious position being our manager and they have recruited well of late.

Eustace leaving clearly caught them by suprise.
