Anyone heard the name Ryan Mason in the rumour mill?

Very interesting one if true.

Karanka unfortunately ticks all the boxes.

Known to Gestede

Almost unemployable

So desperate he won't kick up a fuss about half the squad leaving in summer

At which point were we in a relegation battle under JDT? We were in relegation form when he left, but he'd long clocked out by then.

Personally I'd look at his entire 18 months in charge rather than last few games when he couldn't wait to get out of here......

we had loads of crap games under him. He wasn’t all that for me.

apart from a few games he was bang average at best. awful man-manager too

Not overly confident on this one either, but I seem to remember him building his Boro team on a sold backline, which is exactly what we have currently. This could be the reasoning behind it.

That was ten years ago now; he’s had no success since then.

The names seem to be getting worse by the hour. A high-incentive six month contract for a decent manager was always going to be wishful thinking with this lot.

No, he's cheap, desperate and known to Gestede.

That is the reasoning behind it.

We are dredging the scrapheap.

Surprised dean smith hasn’t been mentioned

Currently head coach of Charlotte FC in the MLS. Would cost money to bring in so can rule him out 😂.

On the plank on Twitter who is 'definitely not Mercer', if they have said we're closing in on Karanka then if anything that reassures me that Karanka won't be coming!

Did a great job at Barnsley and played at their strengths. His WBA stint was a bust though. They spent and was aiming for automatic promotion back but ended up mid-table before he was let go. He tried to replicate the Barnsley platform with direct football, but neither players nor fans bought into it.

Wouldn't say his manager record is poor, but think there must be better candidates out there.

I don’t think they spent much under him, and he was 6th when he got sacked at West Brom.

Wouldn’t be my choice though.

He was the most likely candidate on paper from day 1 from a Gestede angle. However we know Waggot does like to go his own way when it suits (Fleck, Eustace).

It wouldn’t surprise me if Rudy is pushing for Karanka,  but Waggot wants to interview the rest of the field.

And not the chap to galvanise this squad for a 13 match promotion push. It will take him a month to know the players names and for them to know him !

You are correct. I've done some research and I see they didn't spend much on transfers. They mostly signed well known Championship players on a free. They actually started the season well before falling off a cliff. He was let go after 1 win in 11 games in this run:
