Took Forest Green Rovers up as champions. They've finished bottom of league one and then bottom of league two after he left.

You can ignore the Watford bit - sacked before he had a chance.

Then he took Luton Town to the Premier League with a budget smaller than ours. Even though they got relegated they were the best performing side of the promoted teams.

Seemed to have gone stale this season, but the rest of his record is good.

If Edward's wants the job then I'd put my money on him, comfortably. 

It would be a steady appointment, seems a decent bloke...Issue won't be him come this time next year though.

I couldn't tell you mate but would be interested to go back in time and have a look. I'd guess that the shite ones we have at very short prices were probably a lot longer elsewhere.

 

Just had a look at Derby local paper from last week, they had Richie Wellens (odd!), Edwards, Stevie G, Cooper, Dyche, Martin as front runners in the article. No mention of Eustace, interestingly!

I don't think we have the money for Rooney, and given his record I doubt even Waggott is that stupid...

It seems to me after getting burnt by both JDT and Eustace Waggott and Gestede won't fancy another senior manager who will be difficult to keep happy. Everything to me suggests a relatively cheap up and coming option who won't rock the boat.

Luton...inherited a side just outside the top 6 and doing very well already under Nathan Jones, rode the crest of the wave and got them through the play-offs, but since then they've been relegated and are now on track to potentially go back to back down to League One. 

So really only half a season at Luton that stands out as genuinely impressive.

I'm not a massive advocate for us hiring Edwards but this is just plain bogus. He has a promotion to the Premier League on his CV something most managers in this division can't claim.

We can probably take many of the odds with a pinch of salt for now, it's a small betting market in the grand scheme of things with not much interest, any unusual major movements in prices are often down to small patterns of betting which the industry knee-jerk reacts to, to prevent ITKs rinsing them like those Tory MP staffers did before the election last year.

 

It's all just very uninspiring, and tiring to be here again 12 months on

I think the foundations were already in place mid season when he took over for that with the work Nathan Jones had done beforehand, he did keep it going to be fair to him to secure the promotion though.

Dreadful this season though to leave that Luton squad firmly in the bottom 3.

I think some have pointed out either here or in other threads that Cooper probably got a sizeable payout when booted from Leicester. A Premier League payoff is probably more than we would offer in actual wages, and he would probably have to forego it to take up another post, so I can't see him coming to this snake pit for tuppence to reminisce about the O'Brien debacle.

 

So I think we should rule him out, despite him probably being one of the best candidates out of work currently.
