Waggott takes ages to appoint managers, as seen now and pre-JDT.

GB had succession planning in place, as seen by his contract renewals, and the speed of two managerial appointments while he was here.

I personally don't think it is a coincidence that the two managerial appointments that occurred during Broughton's time were both quick, decisive and successful appointments - almost as though he had ideas and a shortlist in place and was prepared - whereas either side of that we've taken weeks to 'interview' and sift through largely dross CVs and not got anywhere with Waggott and the curtain twitcher running the show. 

Almost as though the introduction of someone with half an idea on what was needed worked and either side of that we've been a shambles.

The only thing I do recall from him post JDT leaving was a gushing online tribute from him to  Thomasson with Broughton claiming joint credit for them developing and flogging Wharton.

If I am honest I don't really fancy any of the managers on the list, other than Cooper none of them have achieved anything and he is way too expensive for us.

Whoever it is needs to know the Championship, at least Karanka has that over Boaten and Boa-Morte.

There was a video before the Stoke home game showing Eustace arriving at Ewood and walking along the pitchside and down the tunnel. Broughton was the one who welcomed him and was walking with him. No sign of Waggott. 

Other than that though yeah, very little information on who was doing what but obviously bridges had been burned and Broughton was on his way out by that point.

Broughton wasn't as bullish over the appointment of Eustsce as he was with jdt his demeanour and what he said certainly didn't suggest he was Broughton pick 

After the whole McGuire thing,Broughtons time at the club was coming to an end.I would definitely believe Eustace was picked by someone other than Broughton

Today at the assessment centre the graduates managers are doing a group exercise where they will be assessed on their techical ability and how they work together as a team. The graduates managers will be required to plan their squad and draw up a list of prospective transfers for the summer transfer window. The assessors, part way through the exercise will interrupt the exercise and inform the graduates managers that there is in fact no budget, they need to sell anyone in their current squad with value and make do with Fleck for the next season. Candidates will be assessed based on how they react to this change with the job going to the one who is grateful for the opportunity to work with Fleck and suggests using the remaining £8.99 transfer kitty to buy Steve Waggot a Lamb Bhuna

Interestingly, that Frederiksen dude (who I've never heard of and who I  thought was only being mentioned in connection with an ugly managers competition) has come in on Talksport Bet from absolutely nowhere to 6/1 3rd favourite in the betting behind 2/1 Karanka and 3/1 Ismael.

Anything in it or have they seen the banter on here and got completely the wrong end of the stick?

None of us know for sure on that but I do think patterns are appearing here. 

Between Broughton's appointment as D of F on 8th June 2022 and JDT's appointment as manager there was a period of 6 days. That is impressive. He came into a new club, took charge of the recruitment process and in less than a week had spoke to JDT, agreed terms with him and his team and got him into the building.

Eustace's appointment occurred within a few days at most of the club knowing JDT was leaving. 

Both were professional appointments, clarity as to what we needed, sorted out rapidly.

Let's look either side of that.

Waggott was lucky to walk into the Mowbray era where there was nothing to do on the football side and it was easy to leave it all to Mowbray and Venus.

From Mowbray's departure being confirmed on 11th May there was a wait of almost a month and talk of all sorts of worrying names (Duncan Ferguson). 

And now from Eustace's departure we are 2 weeks into knowing Derby were speaking to him and are still conducting interviews.

Agree with you about the (in general) tortuous process under Waggott but they'd been at loggerheads with JDT  for ages so Id Imagine they'd had Eustace in mind for some time.

A quick glance on Twitter shows he’s just done a press conference for his current side ahead of the weekend. Would likely rule him out given he’s not in london hob-nobbing with our motley crew.

Why on earth are we interviewing candidates in London? I assume the three stooges are staying down there in some salubrious hotel, eating fine food and drinking all at the club's expense when we haven't got a pot to pee in.

If any of the candidates are that keen they could have travelled to Brockhall or somewhere local.
