v Plymouth Argyle (h) - 15/2/2025

Recommended Posts

credit to whoever did the half time team talk,we really picked up the temp in the 2nd half and there was only one winner,a turgid first half where plymouth were far to comfortable defensively and we were to slow with the final pass

credit to dolan,he`s incredibly frustrating at times but he never lets his head drop and is always giving 100%

i feel shame in slating forshaw❤️

cantwell was excellent and so was sanderson,he did`nt give the big lad up front a sniff

I'm happy for Forshaw. He is regarded as a solid pro in the game and it must be pretty humiliating to be told you can go away by a club in the relegation places ... he looked to enjoy the goal!

His celebration was a lot of fun for the JW end 😂

We passed Argyle off the pitch. Really surprised by how little they offered considering the run they were on.

I too had the Plymouth commentary as the only working option and he immediately spotted Forshaw celebrating in front of their bench.

So many good performances. Cantwell's best game for a while but why didn't he hammer that shot? Dolan great second half, another promising Kargbo cameo and Trav and Ribeiro immense.

Another wobbly Pears afternoon but fortunately he was well shielded by those in front of him.

Table looking nice with a dingle derby at Wembley in prospect...

Seen the highlights two lovely lovely goals.

Look like Mak could have had a couple of goals but some lovely flicks including the lead up to the 2nd goal and his late chance.

I haven’t seen any of the match yet - what do you think the difference is with JE’s setup and this? Feels a bit more attacking but keeping clean sheets - I am no football tactic guru so genuinely interested.

Having half decent options on the bench/in the squad I would say is the biggest difference. We are missing 2 left backs, 2 central defenders, a starting CM and 2-3 attacking players yet we could still make changes without weakening the team as a whole or having most of the team blowing out their arses on 85 minutes

I thought cantwell was superb....players are learning to give him the ball back when he plays a quick pass and runs into space

I think we were more cautious/patient under JE - certainly in a game like this.

Whereas what we should do (and did do today) is start positive and stay on the front foot.
At 1-0, we'd often drop deep under JE and invite pressure; we didn't do that today.

In complete fairness, I think we're benefitting from a lot of work JE's team have done this season - our defensive organisation, work off the ball, etc.
But Lowe/the coaches have clearly tweaked the match day instructions and it's paid off in these last 2 games.

Very good win and much deserved.

Control the game from the start to finish.

First half started well, first 10 mins then lack of tempo to our play was slow.

Second half we must better. Tempo much better.

Forshaw's goal was good and his celebrate was aimed I think Plymouth Board.

We looked much better when Karbgo came on and played wide left with Dolan on the right. Karbgo's pass to Dolan for his goal was pure class. Karbgo looks very good so far.

Ribeiro was excellent all game and was rightly named man of the match.

Expected Plymouth to be better attacking wise than they were.

Fans fantastic today

Great to see legend King Kenny on the pitch pre game.

We're definitely looking like a threat now. Bench is becoming deeper set and kargbo and Riberio look brilliant additions this team can go places genuinely believe it

A team made up of players who didn’t start today:

                                    Toth

JRC.              Carter.          Batth.         Beck

                         Tronstad    Buckley

     Dennis             Weimann                  Kargbo

                                 Ohashi

Not world beaters but not too shabby either.

We did very well today; Ribeiro looks a real player and fair play to Forshaw, a brilliant performance rounded off with one hell of a finish for his goal!
