v Plymouth Argyle (h) - 15/2/2025

Has the makings for a few goals today, let's hope Pape continues to play with his shooting boots on, I bet he was ready to go again the next day he will have been absolutely buzzing. In addition to that Ryan Hardie seems to be banging them in, albeit via the penalty spot for a fee of them. In fact they've had a penalty 3 games on the trot now. Could do with Batth playing, was there any news on him in the presser I missed it? Their tails will be up after a few good results and I bet players will be trying to book their place in the starting 11 for the City game too.

Tough game but a 3-2 home win.

Pape, Dolan and AK47 with the goals.

Got to be aggressive from the first minute today, really put it on them early.

We tend to start well at home and often dominate the first 20-30 minutes, but then what happens next usually depends on whether we score in that time or not.

If we score first today then make it awkward we might take the wind out of their sails. If they somehow get the first goal we'll be in serious bother. Crowd will turn and they will shut up shop.

One thing I bloody hate about us that. We go down one and go silent. Then wake back up again when we come close or score

That's going to give the opposition a few headaches... Pace, guile and power!

Not much threat down the middle with that

Gueyes all round play on Wednesday was much better as well. Held it up really well. Another performance like that and we win the game. The two big CBs for Plymouth will make it tough for him.

This feels like an absolute massive match. Regardless of form, this is a team 2nd bottom of the league without a win away from home all season.

A win for Rovers takes us to 51 points after 33 games, could potentially take us 4+ points clear, with a fairly tame schedule versus our opponents (only 3 of the top 7 to play)

I’d be confident Rovers of old lose this match, and gift Plymouth fans their first away win - pray that these lads prove me wrong - I’ll start believing the top 6 is likely with a win today.

“Must-win” is overused but I feel it’s so important to get the 3 points today and keep the feel good factor going after the turmoil of the past week. A draw would be a big disappointment and defeat bring back the dark clouds of everything that’s wrong at the club . Cautiously hopeful

Rovers 2 Plymouth 0

Of course but think a crowd of around 15.000 will turn up which is good nowadays...

I’d be surprised if we get 15,000 on.

We didn’t fill it on Kenny’s first day in 1992, coincidentally against the same opponents.

The way to fill Ewood would be to stage a half time boxing match between Tyson Fury and Steve Kean.

If memory serves there were only about 12k on that day in ‘92

I'll be very disappointed if Lowe goes with the same 11 at WBA. Although we won, this is a completely different game...We need to be at them from the go.

Kargbo and Dennis to start.

Same for me. As much as Big Mac deserves a start, I think the two quick lads will give the Plymouth center halves more of a problem.

We really have to send the Janners back down the M5 wondering what hit them if we can.

I hope that the lads will be up for another solid performance, chasing everything down and defending resolutely. A repeat of the great showing from the Big Mak would be a wonderful thing, and it would be marvellous to see the hard yards covered by Travis and for John Buckley to grow again into his creative role.

A lot of our recent goals seem to have come from the long diagonal ball from the right, into the opposition penalty area for finishing, with either Brittain or Trav supplying the pass. No doubt Plymouth will have clocked that and may even go after those two players with cynical fouls from the outset to keep them quiet.

Nay bother! I just want this motley crew of ragbag journeymen to be the surprise package of this season, and to beat the odds in achieving something that everything tells us that the club doesn't seem to want.

On Paper (home advantage, league position) Rovers 2 Argyle 0

On Drugs (Form, Mojo, Adrenaline) Riotous Rovers 4 Jangly Janners 4

Christ On a Yellow Bike meets an upset on an apple cart (You know Rovers do this) Lost Rovers Boys 1 Plymouth Pillage People 3

All together now... COYB!!

Kargbo in for Hedges and if fit Dennis in for Weimann, maybe Woodrow if not.

Hopefully their recent form gives them a bit of confidence to attack and we can exploit the gaps.

Just so you know you can blame me if we lose, my husband decided this morning that we should attend today's match.  So the players, the caretaker manager, Venkys, Waggott, the tealady (if we still emply one) are not to blame.  It's all down to that couple from Clitheroe

Oh, and equally I'll expect a round of applause if we win.
