47er
We're on 1.45 (recurring) per game. 13 games left to reach 70 points+. That requires only a small increase in the rate we accumulate points. We need 1.46 points per game to get to 70. If its 75 we need 1.84 per game. But the nub is that clubs below us need more! We just need to keep doing what we're doing. Fingers crossed!

TheRevAshton
We have a chance to do some serious damage up until the start of April, we don't play a single team who are near or above us, closest being Norwich who we're 7 points clear of. Fixtures until April, and their current positions at the time of writing... Swansea City (a) - 17th Norwich City (h) - 12th Derby County (a) - 22nd Stoke City (a) - 19th Cardiff City (h) - 20th Portsmouth (a) - 18th There's the argument that a bunch of those sides are in a relegation scrap and will be busting their guts for results etc... but the reality is that these teams are down there for a reason, they're not very good - and we should be beating them. We have an opportunity to go on a brilliant run here, and should be targeting at least 4 wins from those games - it gets harder after that!

Agreed and, more importantly, we can't count on picking up many points in our final few matches, so we very much need to make hay while the sun shines. If we can pick up at least 4 wins from that set of fixtures then we will likely find ourselves in a very good spot with a handful of matches to go. The teams below us are decent, but we probably won't see any of them go on a 4/5 match-winning streak.
StHelensRover
Getting points on the board early has the added psychological benefit, it gives our group of players that feeling of being close enough to touch playoffs, while it demoralises the players and fanbases of those chasing us

Gives the feeling of well we've done enough, time to dig in and hang on.

It’s got an unprecedented Rovers death spiral written all over it. 😬

As predicted, they are dragging this out as long as they can get away with to ensure that our promotion challenge is derailed.

As someone who has made senior appointments and looking at how quickly/slowly other clubs make appointments, this is not protracted. The cost of getting a senior appointment wrong is enormous and the band aid in the meantime is holding 100%. The issue is not how long it is taking, it is the clowns who are making the decision.

Old Codger
Let's hope the players and Benson just decide to go for it amongst themselves rather than waiting for WaggottPashaGestede to stop fannying around 😉 One game at a time, Rovers. Just play to beat what is in front of you, and feck all the fannyng. COYB! Edited February 20 by Old Codger
BRFC4EVA
I have this reoccurring nightmare of us (playoffs) and Sheff U (autos) both needing points on the last day to hit their obj. So either we get the playoffs and dingles nick the auto spot, or sheff get the auto spot and we miss out. Hopefully they're already up by then! If we have already secured top 6 by that point, then I hope that our team roll over like a puppy wanting a tickle (would be an opportunity to rest key players too!) They need another 8, 0-0 draws just to get past Leeds. @Turf bore.

Therefore, the 1.46 ppg we need to reach 70 points is actually a drop in our average. We're the only team from 5th downwards that needs LESS ppg than we've averaged so far to reach 70. We just need to be average to finish in the Top 6 - it's just so often at this stage of the season we're not even that.

On the other hand as you say it could be a situation like Leicester last year where they're already promoted and on the beach. Let's hope lightning strikes twice!

I've never seen a football club sitting in a playoff position take over two weeks to appoint the new manager with 13 games to go. Everyone else has a list of potential candidates, they pick one and make it happen. Here, just like every other appointment, it moves at a glacial pace as the opportunity for success passes us by. The issue is both the clowns making the decision and how long they are taking. Venkys out is the only option for this club to have any kind of future.

TheRevAshton
Every time I regain a little bit of hope, this lot remind me just how shit they can be. Sorry but a team capable of a ‘performance’ like that, does not make the playoffs. Not a chance.
Nic81
The only thing that gives me hope at the moment is Tronstad, Batth, Carter and Ohashi are coming back. Replace Hedges too and that looks a lot better. The selection today was poor!
Waggy76
The club is set up to FAIL, it doesn't matter who the manager is, there is one common denominator instigating the decline of Blackburn Rovers and as been for 14 years and they have too go now. Until that day dawns, any talk about play off's and promotion, is pie in the sky. VENKYS OUT!
