v Swansea City (a) - 22/2/25

Recommended Posts

Full weeks rest after a solid 2-0 victory suggests probably same team.... But ACD was mediocre again and Kargbo electric - so has Kargbo played himself in? I reckon so.

Maybe they can work on in training Cantwell drifting out left and Kargbo coming inside. Id much rather have Kargbo staying up for the counter than Cantwell. And on the left Cantwell will have Riberio making the overlap all day long letting him get in pockets edge of the box.

             Pears

Brittain.     Sanderson.   Hyam.  Riberio

               Travis.   Forshaw

       Dolan.      Kargbo.    Cantwell

                       Gueye

Can see a draw here as Swansea look to regroup at home. They are next to bottom in the home form but they are only a couple of wins off 12th so home form is quite close. They've scored more than they've conceded at home which is unusual given they are 23rd.

We are due a game where we don't win and away to Swansea is one I can see that happening. I don't fear them but for me it has an championship draw written all over it. 1-1. I'm not yet sure if any new faces will be available but I'm hoping Kargbo will get a start if he's ready. Also Batth would go into the team if fit, obviously.

A good performance and remaining in the top 6 would sweeten the mild disappointment of dropped points but then it will be a home game to follow.

No, the league has done us more favours than we deserve. If we are the real thing we will be beating these and moving on.

Brittain. Sanderson. Hyam. Ribiero

              Travis.   Buckley

 Dolan.       Cantwell.     Kargbo

                     Gueye

Subs: toth, Litherland, Beck, JRC, forshaw, Hedges, ACD, Dennis, Weimann

If batth is available then he starts

I think Carter and Dennis need a long run for the 21s before being in contention to start vs Norwich.

The championship isn't a league that works like this and it's part of what makes it compelling. We could lose this 6-0 and still go up. We can look at specific games as bellwethers, for sure, but in reality that's often simply us making sense of what we have seen and creating a narrative after the fact. There's so much unpredictability that we often discard

It should all average out over the course of the season and given the amount of terrible results we have had so far I think we have used up all out luck.

If you feel different that's fine but it feels to me like we need to put our big boy pants on, beat the teams below us and win/draw against the other playoff contenders.

I'll just accept enough points to reach the playoff wherever they come and not worry too much about individual games that can all be banana skins

  • Herbie6590 changed the title to v Swansea City (a) - 22/2/25

Have a quiet confidence about this one just because of a. How we've been playing lately and b. Players showing a different gear to say 6 games ago. With Kargbo showing his skill set and Ribeiro impressing, Gueye improving by the game, Dolan hungry and Trav being Trav things are looking just that little more grounded and well rounded

Hopefully, Beck, Carter, Tronstad and Ohashi will have recovered to be coming into contention creating a wonderful selection headache.

The line-up is as big a mystery as who will be selecting it.

Swansea halted a horrific run of results with a win at play off hopefuls Bristol City then lost again home to Sheffield Wednesday and away at Stoke. They took some real batterings too from Norwich, Cardiff and Portsmouth.

Swansea don't score many either so if we turn up like we have in the last two games we should be able to keep them out and take a chance or two ourselves.

We beat them 1-0 at Ewood through a Dolan goal so can we get the first double of the season?

Their form is as bad as it gets. Utterly dire. Their last 10 reads W1, D1, L8. In that time they've not scored more than one goal in a game, and have failed to score in three of their last four.

The Championship is mad and away points aren't to be sniffed at, but we have to be targeting three points from this one.

21's don't play till a week on Monday unfortunately.

I think we'll benefit from a full week of training though, till we make the long trek south.

All the teams round us seem to have got a result at Swansea, we really need to follow suit.

If DL still in charge he will start Buckley after saying he didn't start him v Plymouth because of a 3 game week.

Evan if he isn't in charge he should still be picking team.

Be nice if all those were fit to start!

Plymouth felt like a really big game. So does this. I guess they all will now.

We played well at West Brom. I dont like ACD or Cantwell away from home. Important we stay grounded. No easy games and this will be tough.

If they are not fit then I'd start with the following.

                    Pears

Brittain Sanderson Hyam Ribeiro

             Travis Buckley

    Dolan Weimman Hedges

                    Gueye

We've all been supporting Rovers long enough to know what happens here 😂

Sick of the adverts on this website! Becoming unbearable using this site, pop ups taking over my entire phone feel like smashing it against a wall...

You try delete them all and they come back, trying to type a message and the buttons are blocked by ads.

Wrong section I know but I need to rant

Who's behind this?
