I take no joy in singling out any of our own players, but he is beyond incompetent and regularly costs us goals and matches. Enough is enough.

We bought him for £1m (or thereabouts) which is a significant outlay for us and he's been rotting on the bench all season. I'm not sure how people can judge - besides making the assumption that he must simply look awful in training (or Pears has some incredible blackmail on someone). Toth was really poor against Wolves and obviously wasn't our first choice during the summer. A few of the names linked would've been first choice by now, I'm sure. Seeing Toth in action and he actually reminds me a little of Pears...
NeilInBristol
6 minutes ago, Torgeir said: Pears is a sub-ordinary keeper who's had a great season up until (close to) this point. The bigger issue here is how we get overrun and can't get hold of the ball against fecking Swansea. Totally dominated/thumped 3-0 and no one in Rovers colours can complain. When we offer no threat whatsoever on the counter as well, there's no point watching really. He had Batth to protect him for most of the season. He's now being exposed yet again. It's so frustrating

At this point I would put Toth in because, well, why not? Pears' purple patch is over, confidence clearly gone and he's back to his usual self. Doing nothing will cost us points as he continues to sabotage us in goal, so we've got nothing to lose by trying something different, even if it seems unlikely to significantly change anything. We need a proper manager in place to actually make these bloody decisions though, not an interim repeatedly picking insipid lineups.
Bbrovers2288
Pears is such a Jekyll and Hyde keeper, unfortunately you don’t know what one has turned up game by game until he has either pulled off a great save or threw one into the net. He needs replaced as we can’t be having this degree of variance in performances in a keeper.

Even if he makes mistakes in his early games, it can't be any worse than Pears.

It takes us 30 days to sign a LW who was desperate to come in during the summer and two CFs who haven't played all year. Stoke activated his release clause before the transfer window had even opened.

USABlue
13 minutes ago, Exiled_Rover said: I agree with all of that except Gueye being poor. He rolled one across the six yard box and headed one back across the six yard box - both absolute tap ins if anyone was supporting him. Ward allowed Swansea to kick seven shades of shit out of Gueye today - they swarmed him whenever he got the ball under control too. Not his best game, but by no means his worst. Most refs I have noticed give BigMac very little but nail him for any.little offence they see. He gets literally mugged sometimes, occasionaly by more than one at once and refs ignore it.
Valconite
Knew as soon as the line up was announced that we would loose but I expected them to at least try. That was diabolical. DL and that selection. I am so fed up that those in charge keep selecting line ups based on who they are mates with and because they are “good lads”. You don’t win games like that ffs. Having your best players on the bench each game while the likes of Hedges for example keep starting is baffling. And don’t get me started on Pears (can Kaminski come back please if Luton get relegated). Feel bad for the fans that travelled. Also, f u Waggot and Pasha. How the hell is there still no proper manager / head coach in place.
chaddyrovers
Very disappointed result and performance, Didn't expect that after the last 2 wins. Could have been very different if Weimann scored at nil nil but we didn't, after that simply not good enough. Thanks Lowe and the staff for 2 wins after Eustace left but we need a new head coach appointment now.

I watched a WBA game during January - right before they sold their GK. Even watching it absentmindedly you could see that their GK was a good one. He came and collected crosses, he commanded his box, he organised the defence. They lost the game, but he stood out as pretty damn competent. Pears does none of the above - he makes the odd reaction save at best. At worst he throws it into his own net like today, like against Bristol City etc etc.

Ribeiro got no support from Hedges - time after time he looked for an out ball down the line and Hedges was AWOL.

sharpysharps86
Well that was dreadful. Nobody comes out of that game with any credit in the bank. All very poor. The team selection was all wrong. It looked like a team picked with too much respect for the opposition and needed to be far braver offensively. Should've been a front 4 of Dolan, Dennis, Kargbo and Gueye to start. Hedges should be about 4th or 5th choice at this point. Best to move on as quickly as possible from today....but they really do need to make an appointment this coming week ahead of Norwich at Ewood. You start your best players it's that simples! And before people come and say none of the subs did anything, the game was lost! Swansea just needed to sit back, and they did. Sooner a new manager comes in and realises Hedges is fucking shit, the better. I’m being deadly serious when I say that he must have the worst goals and assist return per minutes played for a forward player in the whole football league. His record really is that bad.
USABlue
Not sure why but that defeat hurt. Makes me fear for the Norwich game, they been banging them in lately haven't they? Anyone notice if Waggot had a big smile today? I bet he did
