It might explain why we were so poor away at Plymouth and Oxford too. We looked way off it in those games too. Can someone ask this at the next club-trust meeting?

They stayed at the Crown Plaza in Plymouth the night before. I know that as I stayed there too.

I can't get over the first goal today.

It's a totally unacceptable error, one of the worst I've seen. Have we seen more individual errors and points cost by a goalkeeper in our history over the course of two seasons?

He's absolutely terrible and it's criminal as said before that we didn't push the extra 500k etc for a proper number 1.

He's had a "decent season" because Batth, Hyam and Tronstad have protected the life out of him.

You can't go into any playoff games with a keeper like this.

Toth must be f*cking useless.

We should never have sold Kaminski.

We'll fall short because we haven't spent a penny in two years. Obviously our spending over the last decade is absolutely criminal if you look at the stats (45th out of 48 teams to play in the Championship).

But what makes it worse is that Swansea have spent less!!

He was better positionally than Pears and about equal as a shot stopper. He was just as bad on crosses, but he didn't have Batth protecting him.

We also immediately got our money back for him. I don't see clubs lining up to sign Calamity Pears.

He was definitely better positionally and even worse on crosses as you say, probably better with his feet too... But Wahlstedt was way worse than Pears overall.

His arms didn't work and he couldn't catch. It was as though he was holding a pair of plastic hands to make his arms longer.

The fact we've been unable to bring in a keeper better than Aynsley fucking Pears in 4 windows is criminal.

Ryan hedges stats-

games played 33

1 goal- I can’t even remember it

1 assist

and he is meant to be an attacker.

bin bin bin

In fairness, it was that ball juggly belter vs Watford but fact still remains that he’s toilet.

Reflecting on yesterday, it's a mix of disappointment and resignation. A lot of people saw this coming before the line up was announced

Then we saw Hedges, Weimann and Foreshaw. I was honestly staggered how anyone can see Swansea's fragility, coupled with the hunger and pace of Kargbo and determine that Hedges was the way to go.

Ceded them the upper hand from the start (despite a good opening 10 mins, which is the least I'd expect.)

Having a manager in place, instead of a coach who is clearly reverting to mean and trying to maintain the status quo, would have given us an edge we clearly needed.

Instead it's another 3 points lost to beurocracy, lack of preparation and the overall malaise that these pricks have woven through our club.

A waste of time for everyone involved.

Why the rush, indeed.

Whilst I know that behind the scenes we are an absolute shit-show, I don’t believe for one minute that they travelled down on the day.

I can't believe that we don't have better players in the Academy, or ones who wouldn't contribute more to the team.

I’d love to see the full list. Starting with the multiple howlers vs Wigan in the FA Cup. 2 stinkers vs Huddersfield when pushing for promotion with JDT not long after, probably 30 in between and then yesterday.

It may bring on PTSD though

I've defended Hedges a bit in the past but he's been really poor this season (and probably last in truth) but yesterday he was abysmal.

No idea how he made it back onto the pitch for the 2nd half.

Can't hide from those stats though. Awful.

When Mowbray went out of his way to sign him I thought what has he got ?  Is he quick, is he a tricky dribbler, is he a good header of the ball, is he an aggressive nasty bastard who’s a nightmare to play against, is he a workhorse who runs the left hand side all day, does he get late into the box and score goals, can he cross a good ball ?

After about 3 or 4 games I was scratching my head because he’s none of those things. I’m at a loss to see what Mowbray saw. How he’s still a regular is a complete mystery to me.

I would not be too surprised if there was meddling in the team selection ...

Hedges is a prime example of the nonsense of modern football. A wide player picked more for ‘what he does off the ball’ then what he actually can produce on it, you know, that passé stuff like, taking on a man, crossing, passing, shooting.

It was a long journey back yesterday to reflect on what I'd witnessed in the afternoon.  Without doubt it was the worst performance of the season but, in many ways, it was a perfect reflection of where we are as a club.  I've never really believed that we are a top six squad.  Granted, there have been times this season when a few good results, strung together, have led to me hope that me might creep into the play-offs, almost by default - the inconsistences of others being our best chance to get there.

However, yesterday was the perfect illustration of our own inconsistences.  Players who had excelled in the previous two games suddenly found it difficult to do the basics even moderately well.  Stray passes, missed tackles, poor positional play and glaring errors were there for all too see.  I remarked after the first five minutes about how we were lacking the intensity in our play of the previous two games and so it turned out.

Individual players make errors all the time so I don't put the blame for yesterday's defeat on any particular player.  They all under performed - for me Forshaw and Ribeiro were the best of a poor bunch.  We are what we are, a fairly solid Championship side but I'm not convinced we are more than that.

As we approach the business end of the season the foot should be firmly down on the accelerator - look at Coventry and Bristol City - we seem to build momentum for a couple of games and then stall and go into reverse for a couple of games.  I fear this is another season when the top six will remain tantalisingly out of reach.

Whether a new head coach can change that remains to be seen but on the evidence of yesterday he'll have his work cut out to deliver the consistency that is required at this point.

I don’t think the club were thinking too straight to choose Swansea as a game for match worn shirts. Who the fuck is going to buy one of those from the worst performance of the season? Pears? I wouldn’t take that for free

edit - wow someone has bid £100 for Hedges, must be his Mum
