There are a lot who support the nobbers in Freckleton.

My Grandmother, who lived in Freck, was a fierce Rovers fan, would have clipped you round the ear for that remark and given any Nobber or Blackpool fan a verbal lashing for saying anything bad about Rovers in Freck. She took no prisoners.

It's genuinely impossible for a professional GK to look worse than Pears.

Watching Pears in goal, doesn't help my anger management issues.

"Sorry officer, it's just that Steven Pears, our goalkeeper, just threw the ball into his own net, the red mist descended and I just sort of lost it."

What's his dad ever done to you? 😉

I live near there now. I stated a fact.

I don't really want him to change an awful lot with regards to the defence (keeper aside, Pears/Toth neither are great) but I really hope he tries something with the attack.

The starting attack of Hedges, Weimann and Dolan was a borderline insult. Hopefully Cantwell & Ohashi are back so there are a couple of other options at least.

I wonder if Lowe was bribed by Swansea before the game, leave some of the best players on the bench, and play Hedges for 90 minutes.

You have a point about Pears not being good enough but you invalidate it by being obsessed with him and going completly overboard all the time.

Were you in a coma when Wahlsted played for us?

Wahlsted was genuinely out of his depth at Rovers - the poor lad was as thin as a rake, got precious little time to build his confidence, and didn't get enough time in the side (thankfully) to establish himself. What I guess we all need to factor in is that for a long time Blackburn Rovers has been synonymous with excellent (or at least very high) goalkeeping standards. Starting with the great 'Sir' Roger Jones, through Terry Gennoe, Jim Arnold,  Bobby Simms, Tim Flowers, Brad Friedel, Alan Kelly, John Filan, Paul Robinson, David Raya are all stand-outs who would walk into today's side no questions asked. (Mind you, they'd probably leave in disgust at the decline in quality in front of them though!). And of course we have suffered some duds.. no names mentioned...but you know who I mean.

So, in many respects we have been spoiled and encouraged to hold high expectations and standards over the years...In the end, Ainsley Pears is generally competent, and has a good number of clean sheets to his gloves this season. He has the glass jaw that all journeymen players suffer from though too, although you only need to look at the national headlines to see that goalkeeping afflictions are not the sole preserve of the Ewood faithful! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c1lppd1p9mzo

Once Tronstadt is back in the line-up, I think we will see a return to more miserly performances in front of our goal, so with any luck the number of opportunities for teflon to strike may be reduced to a minimum. It is an exciting prospect that our 'best 11' is coming back into contention just in time for the run in. It should certainly be a concern to the clubs around us that we may be able to deploy a strong line up, with cover and with a very strong together ethos running through the side.

We could do with a lift, this side of Lancashire, to send a clear two fingered salute to those who would hold us down, and to bring some joy back to the mouldering crumbling facilities down at Ewood. Maybe the French Connection will do the trick! I really do hope so!

ALLEZ LES BLEU!!

Despite being skinny and shit, I'll die on the hill that Wahlsted has a much higher ceiling than Pears.

Ismael seems a bright chap, I'm sure it won't take him long to figure out the glaring weakness in our first team.

Agree on both counts.

Would imagine he has a fair idea already. Will have access to plenty film and had a year on the dole

Pears seems to have lost his way a bit lately, but let's not forget we were turning in a decent number of clean sheets not that long ago with him in goal, so it is possible to succeed with a weaker link. He also benefits massively when Tronstad is back. Might sound a bit weird but he's usually his outlet and he installs a bit more confidence in him (I think).

Anyway fuck slating Pears, let's give it a good collective go from now till the end of the season.

I'm not sure how much input VI has on the team selection here given he's literally trained with them once, unless he's been up for the past few nights watching replays of previous games, possible I suppose. As a new manager, like in any walk of life though, he'll want to be seen to making his stamp on things.

I think he'll like what he sees from Gueye and also he knows Brittain well. I can't imagine he's gonna throw Woodrow in like.....

Maybe a couple of changes and I desperately hope Hedges for Kargbo is one. I'd be swapping Buckley in for Forshaw too.

Norwich are well capable of banging a few goals in, but it's mainly at home they do so.

Going for a 2-1 home win and an absolute Chad-Spunk explosion on here at FT as he creams over the VI era at Ewood.

Absolute nonsense. Wahlsted cant even catch the ball.

Bit of a liability for a keeper to say the least.

Ismael had Dennis on loan when he was at Watford didnt he?

Anyone know if the relationzhip between them was good, or is it the nail in the coffin for our £20k p.w. "significant investment?"

Cant imagine him putting up with Cantwell for long unless he starts pulling his finger out either.

No clue about their relationship

But Dennis was initially played off the bench for Watford that season, before getting starts once he was fit and able to play longer.  Pretty sure that I have heard Watford fans say he couldn't last longer than 20-30 minutes to start with and needed his fitness to be built up over 5-10 games

Imagine that it will be a similar pattern at Rovers

Problem is the season will be done by then.

Complete waste of a signing Dennis.

This is the team I think Ismael will pick

                   Pears

Brittain Carter Hyam Ribeiro

             Travis  Buckley

   Dolan     Cantwell     Karbgo

                    Gueye

Subs:- Toth Sanderson JRC Tronstad Ohashi Dennis Woodrow Hedges Weimann

Rovers to win 3-1 win with Gueye with 2 and Ohashi to score.

That's what I'd be starting if all are fit to play. Be good to have Carter back.

Ismael or not we are still getting easily turned over, Canaries will coast to a handsome 3-0 victory.  I just have a gut feel this appointment goes horribly wrong (for us fans) yet waggot will be ecstatic.  He only has 12 games to keep us in this league for next season and do it in a manner that looks like we really do want to get in the playoffs.

We end up disappointed and Waggot collects his bonus.
