You have to wonder if some of the players out of contract thought "ayo, hold up, we've got the club into 5th place and they're refusing to extend our contracts - and this bloke who's achieved nothing comes in on a 3.5 year deal?"

They call Football Manager (the video game) Moral Manager for a reason.

Your season can quickly go to pot if you upset the players - and likewise if you keep the same players happy they can overperform their stats.

I think we're seeing that here in real life - a group of limited players who were playing out of their skins suddenly downing tools because the manager they really liked walked. Why would they continue to bust a gut when their contracts are up in the air and you've foisted a disciplinarian on them?

When you factor in that we didn't bring anyone in to help them in January too. Yeah this car crash was on the cards.

It appears that all 4 Rovers management were part of the interview stage and making this appointment.

A disaster, as predicted. A good DOF hires a manager that fits the players available. Ours hired one that only knows how to play 3-4-3.

Ismael isn't just 3-4-3 formation head coach. At Besiktas and Watford, he played 4-2-3-1 formation.

great points. its 4 wins in 17 games since Boxing Day. Eustace 2 wins in 10, Lowe 2 wins in 3 and Ismael 0 wins in 4.

Did the players looked confused yesterday in the first half. Our biggest problem is leaking goals and not keeping clean sheets.

We should care, as it shows that we are an absolute mess of a club.

Some of our fans deserve the Venky’s, they really do. When we finally do ever get rid of them and things pick up, they’ll be the first to change their tunes.

‘We are not an attractive purchase for anyone’.

Current Premier League:

Forest 3rd, Brighton 7th, Fulham 8th, Bournemouth 10th, Brentford 11th, Crystal Palace 12th.

Even putting to one side our stature, history, infrastructure, it’s not even a theoretical ‘worth a punt on a sleeping giant’ thing as we’ve actually spent the last 3/4 years largely around the play off places for a spot in that league… but nah *no-one* will ever buy us so let’s hope Venky’s stay for evermore, ‘Bury’ etc.

I was driving somewhere yesterday and the BBC Radio 5 Live commentary was Bournemouth v Brentford.

You literally couldn't pay me to watch that. Two absolutely non-entities, yet they're both in the Prem because they have good owners.

That's very unfair.

I watched Spurs v Bournemouth last week and they were absolutely brillant, played Spurs off the pitch and could have won by 5 or 6.

It doesnt matter what your "size" or background is if you have a good manager and a good set up behind the scenes. Bournmouth seem to have happened on two successive wealthy owners who have been extremely good for them.

Listened to an excerpt from an interview with Bournemouth's current American owner last week and he sounded incredibly enthusiastic about their future with massive plans for their infrastructure.

What a difference from our owners who appear to have lost any limited interest they once had and management desperately trying to screw every last penny out of it before the gravy train is finally involved in a fatal crash.

Never been able to get my head around that argument from some of our fans. Even taking off the Rovers tinted glasses.

To get back to Ismael, when Nixon claimed him and Wagner were down to the final two, I said the appointment of either would leave me feeling "flat as a pancake".

That remains the case but I dont think anyone could have predicted quite how much of a disaster his appointment would have been.

In the last 3 games we've conceded the opening goal after three minutes, nineteen minutes and four minutes! We've gone from being in and around the play off positions all season to being completely uncompetitive within games. Say what you like but for me that's the sign of a team that's clocked off mentally, the players just arent having this fella at all.

We probably thought we'd seen it all after the O Brien then the Mcguire debacles. However as a deliberate act of sabotage, refusing to compromise with the popular Eustace over his own contract and player extensions, and then giving this guy who had no obvious qualities to make him a suitable candidate a three and a half year deal, well that will sure take some beating.

this time they`ve gone and appointed a duffer, most likely a yes man,who won`t be requesting anything, problem now is our inevitable decline, though with gods grace this might herald the end of the cockroaches who own and run the club

Everyone not from this part of the world probably thinks the same about us as well.

Apart from maybe the 1992-1995 years.

I still stand by my gut feeling I said at the time that Wagner would have been far greater than Ismael. I’m even starting to wonder about Karanka now in comparison.

Its unfair cos both clubs have done well under owners invested in their club but currently playing some really good attacking football.

Did it start that great under Eustace tho? 1 win in 10 games with 6 draws and 3 lost.

Yes it hasn't been great but when you get bullied Derby forwards and a keeper who is piss poor and players not defending properly.
