Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Recommended Posts

I'm happy with this appointment, think the players we have will suit him down to the ground. .  Trondstadt and Travis both remaining fit will be pivotal to any success in the latter part of this season.. We have been crying out for a Rothwell replacement since we lost him..

Welcome aboard, Valerian. Rather have someone leading us that wants to be here than someone that doesn't...

That would have been impossible to do pre-January. Now it's possible but the guys coming on at 60 minutes are a massive step down from the starters.

Pre-January, I agree would have been a no-go.

Now, we definitely have a much stronger bench. I don't necessarily see them as a 'massive step down either. You could be looking at Carter, Buckley, Ohashi, Dennis, Dolan, Cantwell, Kargbo, Gueye etc. depending on who's in the starting 11

I won't include Hedges as I think that would be over-egging the pudding... 🙂

Where is he going, unless we go up?

JDT and Eustace had places to go to.

He’ll stick it out for a good while imo.

If he does as well as those 2 then we would have offers in the championship

Coaches can fail over and over they still get opportunities to manage at this level.

We ain't talking about a guy here who has got teams relegated. He dissapointed at West Brom and at Watford. But fact is he left West Brom in 5th,when he left they eventually dropped to tenth.Maybe it wasn't him that was the issue

He did very well at Barnsley.

Think he's a coach good at working on limited resources and not with primadonnas.

jdt and eustace covertly engineered their own way out, expect ismael to do the same or he could sacked after a right old outburst at the toxic mob who run us😀

Yes, but JDT already had a strong standing in Sweden, following his successful spell at Malmo, and Eustace had shown his worth by guiding our troubled club into a lofty league position.

Ismael will have to do very well in the last dozen games, (and hopefully three more), to attract any admirers so quickly.

Let's hope he does just that.

Congratulations and wishing you all the good fortune Valerien.

Hugely relieved Lowe is not in charge against Norwich

The countdown on Rovers welching on promises to Ismael has started. Hopefully he departs like Lambert, Thomason and Eustace.

Good luck Valerien!

I wish you well and hope you can miraculously get us to the PL this season.

Wouldn't have been my choice - just hope it proves to be an inspired appointment but not holding my breath.

Just put a tenner on us winning the Prem in 2 seasons

How long are we giving it?

The poster I challenged said he would be off in the Summer, because of lies and broken promises.

That is what I was challenging.

I agree with what you are saying, but to have any offers in the Summer, he will have to get us at least in the Play Offs, and probably at least to the final.

Add to that, he's not going to be cheap to pinch having signed a 3 + year deal.

I expect he'll have insisted on a release clause, but we won't be talking about peanuts.

Go look at his managerial history. He's been sacked basically everywhere he's been except Barnsley - and often within 12 months.

Oh don't worry mate! We won't be playing anything of the sort. Expect hoofball. That's his style.

Hopefully he doesn't do a Mowbray and play hoof ball to Adam Armstrong.

Does your seat at Ewood face the pitch?

Mowbray certainly had faults but he didnt play hoof ball to Armstrong. When he was up front, we tried to dominate the ball and it didnt work, so quite the opposite.

Im sure Mowbray must have done something to you personally as your hatred isnt normal.
