I thought it was a very good article.

The salient points as far as we are concerned  are that allegedly Rovers reneged on a promise to Eustace he could bring his own players in and refused to entertain discussions over a new contract for him.

It wasn't damning enough about our ownership.

They didn't put enough emphasis on the absurdity of someone leaving Rovers (a larger club) in 5th to go to Derby (a smaller club) in the relegation zone AFTER the transfer window has closed.

He left for a lot more money. There's nothing absurd about it. Or hard to understand.

What is absurd though is the money they manage to find for Waggott though, without too much difficulty.

Assuming it is just for money, an offer equal to what Derby were paying, would have kept him.

GK: Pears
DL: Ribeiro (Unless Beck is fit?)

DR: Brittain
DC: Carter

DC Hyam (How long's Batth out for- massive loss!)

CM: Travis

CM: Trondstadt

AML: Kargbo

AMR: Dolan

AMC: Cantwell

ST: Gueye

Feel a bit short with Dennis being suspended.. He'd be starting for me ahead of Dolan or Cantwell- once he gets motoring he'll be a massive asset.

Shame on Buckley with the concussion too, I thought he was really beginning to capture a bit of form. Perhaps the biggest loss for us has been Batth though. He's been immense this season, genuinely can't recall him putting a foot wrong and has popped up at vital times at the other end of the pitch with goals and assists.  We need to be looking for players of his ilk but younger..

The team largely picks itself in my opinion..  We may see a Hedges in there..

There all big games now, Derby are really poor,  so I'm going 3-0 Derby!

By the time that happens the season will be long over.

A complete waste of a signing, as predicted at the time.

"He went just for the money on offer at Derby"

If true how/why are Derby offering him more than we are?

Last I heard we had to be thankful for Venky benevolence because without it we'd 'do a Derby'. Now all of a sudden they are offering more money than us?

What happened to the £40 million and counting?

You see...even if you are daft enough to believe the 'money' excuse and close your mind to all the other alarm bells going off around the place it still gives rise to additional questions and concerns that need dealing with.

It is not quite as straightforward as some fools would attempt to convince us it is.

If a valued employee wants to leave, what do sensible admin staff do, assuming they want to keep him(or her)?

They sit down with him, talk it through and see what could keep him. Did they do that or just tell him he had a contract?

If its money---does he deserve a rise? Some would say he did---saved us from relegation on the last day. started the season everybody's favourite to do down but, instead, played some great football and in the top 6 for months. Moreover generated a great bond with the players and between them.

So, yeah, I think he deserved an offer but did he get one or did they simply lick their lips at the £500,000 compensation?

Was he promised more in the transfer market than he got? Was he as involved in transfer targets as he should have been?

Or, in short was he shafted?

Eustace on Derby County.
"I was under no illusions coming in that it would be a difficult job and a tough task. It is about the bigger picture and not the next two months.  It's about the next three, four years. That's why I've come to this football club ... great fans, blah, blah, blah ..., it's set for the Premier League, I want to play the part to make sure Derby get back there, however long it takes. It will be a process but a very exciting one. I'm very proud to be the head coach now to get them back where they can be."

Now I'm full of sympathy for Eustace's Rovers experience with our board and owners, arses the lot of them but come on John didn't we have 'unbelievable' fans, didn't we belong in the Prem, deja vu?

Tomorrow I'm hoping for an away end rendition of the classic Willie Nelson song:

Well, hello there
My, it's been a long, long time
How am I doing?
Oh, I guess that I'm doing fine
It's been so long now
And it seems now that it was only yesterday
Gee, ain't it funny how time slips away?

How's your new love?
I hope that he's doing fine?
I heard you told him
That you'd love him 'til the end of time
Now that's the same thing that you told me
It seems like just the other day
Gee, ain't it funny how time slips away?

I gotta go now
I guess I'll see you around
I don't know when though
Never know when I'll be back in town
But remember, what I tell you
That in time you're gonna pay
It's surprising, how time slips away

Should be a nailed on 3 points - but we have a habit of throwing matches like this.

Make no mistake - this will be a cup atmosphere - but if Rovers can't win this one (or as an absolute minimum get a point) - we have a very limited chance of finishing inside the top 6 - let alone winning the play offs.

Ismael's comments on Dennis in yesterday's press conference

"It's a pity because I found since I came that Dennis looks sharper than I saw him last year at Watford," Ismael said.

"More focus, really sharp in shape, positive. But the good thing is it's only one game and three days later we have another game.

"At some point, he has a point to prove. When you are in a club and every year you are on loan here, on loan there, at some point, you just want to settle and to find your home. And for yourself as well to prove that you are able to compete at any level.

"I think that Dennis is at that crossroads for him now. I think that he feels himself well with us. Hopefully, in the last ten games for him, he will be able to show his quality.

"I know that he is able to score goals and he will be able to help the team."

Positive signs I guess you think the gaffa will push for a contract

Still got another year on his contract at Forest and on huge wages.

No chance at all he will be joining here on a permanent.

There's no way Derby are offering him a fortune - they aren't the Championship Man City. If he's left and got a significant pay raise then it just means we were paying him a pittance (and refusing to give him a better deal in spite of excellent work), so why in the world would anyone expect him to stay?

As for the article, not enough references about him being the most dastardly snake to have ever slithered into club management. Poor do. I did think it was clearly spun to be very positive towards him - boasting achievements when, as of yet, there have been none on the pitch. The behind the scenes work counts for nothing until it delivers results on the pitch. Until then it's just hard work, which you'd expect anyway.
