Pears is undoubtedly the worst keeper at Rovers for at least the last 60 years I've been supporting the club. There may have been one or two worse but they played less than 10 games and could not be considered as first choice eg Ramsbottom, Collier and Dickens. Pears has absolutely no presence and no clue how to deal with high balls in the box. Whoever - we know it's Benson-is responsible for scouting and prepping the keepers should be out of the door. But we all know it won't happen under this regime.

Jake Kean…?

Wasn’t at the game but credit to those 2700 or so who went. I get the anti-Eustace protest because he let us fans down just when we were dreaming of a cracking end to the season. However his post-match comments about the players, staff and fans  point the finger of blame for his departure firmly at the board, the owners and their appointed management. They are the ones to blame for a failure to capitalise on a brilliant start to the season, not JE. Seemingly it was no different with JDT.

Naturally, as a long suffering Rovers fan, I’m still hoping we can get back on track but feel that this season could be a watershed for Rovers that hopefully will lead to a change of ownership. We can’t continue with such a toxic relationship between those who support the club and the owners. Something has to give!

Pears is absolutely woeful but Whalstedt beats him .At least we have seen Pears have some good games and make some good saves

I'd love to think that we would be considering going in for Kaminski if Luton go down but it what will happen is Toth will go back to Hungary and we will sign another foreign goalkeeper for pennies and he will be number 2 to Pears

Either Nixon said it or I read it on here but supposedly Benson is the one who finds the goalkeepers  if there is any truth to that he should have no involvement next time or whoever did push for Whalstedt and Toth shouldn't be anywhere near finding another keeper for us.

If there had been another 10 minutes left in the first half we would have scored again but once the teams went inside for half time Eustace steadied them and we had no clue how to get on top and create any decent chances

Too early to  judge Ismael yet but he definitely hasn't had a reaction from the player's. Going off Brittains interview the other week he was one that seemed happy with his arrival and then goes out and gives probably his worst performance of the season

Our results had dropped off under Eustace aswell let's be fair ,we only stayed in the top 6 for so long due to the teams closest to us boro and West brom having poor results aswell

If we were to somehow get 6 points in the next 2 games a chance we be back in the top 6 or within a point or two of it with the other fixtures the teams above us have ,well  you would expect Coventry to beat Derby but West Brom and Bristol City have tougher fixtures on paper over the 2 games left before the international break .No confidence we will get 6 points

We need Batth and Beck back.Has anything been said about a return date?

Both expected back AFTER the break I believe, Radio Lancs said the same about Kargbo as well, hamstring injury 👎

Another agonising day on the road with Rovers with what I thought was a tepid performance. At any level conceding two sloppy goals in the first seven minutes gives you a mountain to climb and that's exactly how this played out. The first one was a simple ball into the box which I would have expected us to cope with comfortably but the centre halves went away and Pears did what Pears does - he flapped. It was a bread and butter ball for a keeper in my view and his lack of bravery saw us to one down. Pears is too error prone and needs replacing.

The second goal we conceded wasn't dissimilar with a nothing ball causing panic and creating havoc. Wow, seven minutes in and two down. After the change of shape we rallied and created a couple of chances and scored just before half time. Significantly we were out for the second half well before Derby so hopefully Ismael told a few home truths.

The second half just passed us by. Lots of possession but far too many nothing passes. The number of opportunities we had to cross the ball but didn't was alarming. Lots of huff and puff but nothing like an end product. How many shots on target did we have in the second half? I can't remember any.

Hopefully Ismael found out a few things about some of our players today and too many were poor or at best average. I have never thought we would make the playoffs because of performances like today. We simply lack any consistency and today showed exactly that. Playing a team who were bottom and lost their last three and we start as poorly as we did.I

I didn't think we deserved anything today.

Rovers aren't scoring 3 goals away from home so going 2-0 before the 10 minute mark cemented the result. Would it have been different if Ohashi had not missed that sitter when Travis put him through? I doubt it, but we'll never know.

Pears has been letting in clangers since his appalling performance at Wigan in the FA cup a few seasons ago. Surely those on the coaching staff who have been at Ewood long enough have logged his catalogue of errors.

Today effectively ended Rovers playoff hopes. It looked plausible a few weeks ago but not anymore. Eustace leaving hasn't helped, but he's not to blame. Plenty on here sound like broken records but as long as Venkys are in charge Rovers are going nowhere.

January 2025 was another opportunity to bring in 2 or 3 quality players who could help a promotion push. Instead the local powers that be sanctioned has beens, projects, and never will be's. It was a disgraceful window and because of that Rovers will limp along to a 10th place finish.

Our 'significant investment' looks rather  'insignificant ' tonight .

I wouldn’t exactly describe that chance as a “ sitter “ . He was in on an angle and he hit the target. On another day that would have slipped in between the keepers legs, which it very nearly did.

I can live with debating whether a keeper should or shouldn't have done better with shot stopping, most fans will be either side of the coin. Pears kills me because he is as soft as they come.

When we had Brad in goal it felt like we already had a goal start. With Pears you feel we’ll have get at least two goals because he’ll throw one in at some point.

Agreed, but Brad was a once in a generation keeper. I'm so far done with Venkys I don't expect anything like that quality, but I also don't expect a coward in goal, and unfortunately Pears is that.

Our problems in goal have coincided with the Venkys Roger Jones , Jim Arnold , Terry Gennoe  all a long time ago , were very good keepers..

That's what really annoyed me with the first goal. I can live with mistakes, they happen but Pears simply bottled that challenge not wanting to get hurt.

And for a keeper that is unforgivable.

Ismael doesn't give a damn, like everyone above him.

All you had to do was look at that first week of interviews when he took over. Not one mention about trying to get promotion despite sitting in 5th.

All about keeping us ticking over and doing nothing over the next year or two.
