lraC Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Before the club release any plans for this event, perhaps it’s an opportunity to arrange one of our own. We reach the milestone on 05/11/25 so perhaps it’s appropriate that we use a fireworks, Bonfire, Guy Fawkes theme and seize the opportunity to thank Rovers greatest fan Uncle Jack. Perhaps we can all do our bit and given Katie Hulls WATR role, use her skills to get it out on social media. Its an opportunity to show the football world what we are all about and ramp up the pressure on the owners and Venkys. My ideas so far, are perhaps to arrange for some retro shirts with the number 1 and Uncle Jack on the back. A Guy Fawkes with a Pasha mask and fireworks set off to spark a sale of the club. Any ideas are welcome, so let’s get this off the ground and use this opportunity to signal the rebirth of the club. 3 Quote

... Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) This is a massive date coming up for our club. Huge. 150 years of footballing heritage and servant to English football history. We have our well loved Jack standing beside our Park, petition for casts to be made of our founding individuals should also be unveiled on this date in my opinion. It's a platform to raise the alarm of the shame that the Venkys are bringing to our club. Casting away its history in their wake of destruction. That being said, should it be a day to fully celebrate (goes without saying it should.) Or would it be shadowed by venky protests? I'm sure there's a right way to go about it. Perhaps respecting a large portion of the afternoon to celebrate our birth? Edited March 10 by ... 2 Quote
JHRover Posted March 10 Posted March 10 A momentous occasion tarnished by Venky occupation and their stooges who should be nowhere near the club. What should be an occasion to celebrate and savour undermined by the poisonous regime. I think people expecting the club to have planned very much at all are optimistic. I suspect at best we will get twitter videos from Dunny, Morten, Faz, Garner, Friedel, Bennett and a few others and then perhaps an overpriced 'dinner' event in the Premier Suite. That's the most they will do because it will be relatively easy to arrange and won't cost them anything. Anything else they will be hoping/expecting the fans themselves to come up with and arrange. A bit like when they expected crowdfunding to raise the cash to instal safe standing rails, they'll sit back and wait for fan groups to suggest ideas and then poo poo those that are going to cost anything or require any bold action. They'll dress this up as involving fan groups in important decisions but really it is just shifting the work away from those paid to do it. 2 Quote

... Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) So, ideas. 5th November is a Wednesday so an awkward date for any event midweek. Drawing attention to the significance would need to be a weekend either side (or both...) one for celebration one for protest 🤷♂️ How would we go about getting some cast iron figures produced? John Lewis Bob Compton etc (dunno who commissions these sort of things) Could we get huge banners to pass over the Blackburn end on the nearest match day? A multitude of flowers to cover jacks statue in honour of him keeping our club alive? Edited March 11 by ... Quote

Hopefully, we will have a home game, either the weekend before, or the weekend after, as it will be far better than arranging this for a midweek game. Once we know the fixtures, for next season, it will become clearer, but i think some plans need to be in place earlier than that, so time got our collective thinking caps on. Quote
Lancaster Rover Posted March 11 Posted March 11 The idiots who organise fixtures/Sky will contrive to have us play Burnley on the 5th should neither be promoted. 1 Quote

Crimpshrine Posted March 17 Posted March 17 The true Blackburn Rovers is only 135 years old. I refuse to recognise the last 15 years spent under Venky occupation. 9 Quote
Mattyblue Posted March 17 Posted March 17 What a pathetic attempt at marking the occasion this will be… compare and contrast to the 125th commemoration. Quote

JHRover Posted Monday at 12:06 Posted Monday at 12:06 Do I remember correctly that Waggott mentioned arranging a fixture against Queens Park FC? I'm sure he mentioned doing something with Darwen FC and someone else. I bet none actually happen, just came up with something to make it sound like he's doing something. Quote
Mattyblue Posted Monday at 12:22 Posted Monday at 12:22 Maybe they’ll use the occasion to have the naming ceremony of the Tony Parkes Riverside too… Quote
