If, as it sounds, VI is writing this season off and planning for next season, we might as well play some of the kids and get rid of the shite.

Unless VI is blind, he'll have already seen enough of Pears to know that he'll never be good enough to be a number 1.
In fact, he is figuratively and literally a number 2.

Michalski

Brittain Hyam Carter Ribiero

Travis Tronstad

Dunn

Gueye Tyjon (if he's fit)

If the likes of Dolan isn't sticking around, then he's played his last game for me.

I'm referencing them because there was no way we were going to maintain our league position with them. Eustace knew that, and it was obvious to most people on here besides the likes of Chaddy. They clearly haven't been brought in as squad players as we're relying on them too much. If they were signed as squad players then that's even more disgraceful as we needed players who could make an impact on the team.

It's all interconnected. The mentality of the players will be shot to pieces when they bust a gut to get into the position they were, then saw the likes of Forshaw and Woodrow bolstering the ranks, along with a bloke who hadn't played in ages. Then Eustace leaves because he has no fucking chance, and there's no way that turmoil is helping anyone.

We didn't slump in January, the rot set in a few weeks before when our squad depth was found wanting.

Ismael may very well be the wrong man, but the only right man would have been to keep Eustace and hope for the best. And he wasn't taking us up either after the annual Swaggfail January sabotage.

You’re making assumptions and stating them as fact. All we know is there wasn’t ‘significant investment’.  You have no idea the players mentality of the players will be ‘shot to pieces’ as a result.

We won 2 out of 3 under Lowe. Mentality was fine then.

This manager is shite. Results are shite. ‘Mentality’ is a meme.

Yeah, I can see us winning tomorrow and await the "We're only x points off the play off places" posts in the aftermath.

Then it'll be back to reality at Pompey.

I'm sure plenty are saying that now. Rovers are only 4 points behind 5th. The fact that Rovers were 5th with a 4 point gap to 7th a few weeks ago will be lost on those who are saying it though.

This game isn't on US TV but I doubt I'd be watching even if it was. There is no excitement to it at the moment.

Unsure whats worse. Michalski, Dunn and Tyjon all thrown in or starting with 10 men.

Narrator’s voice: ‘He has scored 8 goals in 107 career matches’.

how many times as he played in an attacking position instead of right back during the last couple of seasons?

With Pismael already talking about the summer squad rebuild you can bet we're rolling over in this one.

Jesus, is he really?

I've not followed us closely since he was appointed. Has he really started talking about the summer rebuild after being handed a club in 5th with just 13 games to go that had made 'significant investment' in the January window?

Three games later and suddenly it's all about the summer?

This lad is going to be here for the full three and a half years of his contract, isn't he?

But equally, how can anyone say he offers a goal threat.

You could say Aynslea Pears offers a gosl threat but just has never been played in attack to prove it.

Carter at right back is a big no. Proven in the past he cant play there.

I imagine JRC goes to wing back if we carry on with the 3 at the back.

I'd fancy my chances of running past JRC at wing back. He's not an athlete - we simply have to change formation if Brittain is injured.

gone by christmas, with us at the bottom,he`s got no idea that a summer rebuild will have to be done without any money, they`ll sell our best players and give valerian nout, rinse and repeat

Well it's my opinion, but aren't you also assuming the mentality was fine? Or is that a fact?

It clearly wasn't if the guy managing them decided to leave a team in the play off places.

I could see with my own eyes that things went quickly downhill when Travis got injured and there was no sign of help from above.

Results have been shite since the away match at Millwall, 21st December. Even when we won it wasn't convincing, besides Luton.

Manager was shite last year at this time according to many around this time.

How can you call someone with 8 career goals a goal threat, though?

cos from the right side of the attack he will get in the box. He can't from the right back position, We need more players in the box, ACD won't do it.

I would play Carter there. he likes to get forward and that my opinion, Disagree if you want

but lets hear the master tactical plan and team selection from yourself, so what your starting 11 and how should we play? its a very simple question, please could you answer it?

We had to change formation anyway, we should never have played 5 at the back in the first place.

Ribeiro is not a wing back either.

we changed formation cos we got bullied by Derby as I have said and others, are we wrong and you are right?

Who else has said it apart from you that we were right to go to 5 at the back? We lost to 2 crap teams with it.

I am not saying that we have a good squad with options everywhere. There is no tactical masterplan with the squad we have and having lost a good manager and seemingly habe brought in a dodgy one. I am not saying that we have loads of good options to cover Brittain. I am just saying that Carter is crap there, wide men have terrorised him when he plays there and he looks like a fish up a tree.

I probably go with something like:

Pears

JRC Carter Hyam Ribeiro

Travis Tronstad

Dolan Ohashi Dennis

Gueye

But I dont like that team. I hate having to watch Pears in net. A total repeated inability to strengthen wide areas leaves us with those 2 who I dont think are the answer, especially Dolan) But the alternatives (Forshaw, Sanderson, ACD, Cantwell etc) are even worse. Recruitment has seen us stockpile poor players signed for a budget of a pack of buttons.

Very few, and that's because he offers little goal threat. He's positionally been dropping further back towards the defensive line as he gets older, because at this level, he's not proficient enough in the attacking third.

We know Rovers, we win this one. We then spend all of the international break getting soundbites of play off aspirations and lose pitifully for the next few games.

The fact it's so important to Cardiff makes me think they will slightly edge it.

Both observations valid and why it's a difficult one to call.

Will be very interested in team selection as may well provide insight into who's really calling the shots.

Feel, sadly, Cardiff will want it a bit more and will edge it.

Callum Brittain ruled out.

During the first half at Stoke I said to my granddaughter it looked like Brittain was limping slightly.

As said in my original post, you don’t  have a successful season (relatively speaking) if the ‘mentality is shot’, whatever that means.

They now look a disorganised rabble. That’s not a mentality thing, that’s a shit manager thing.

And results nosediving since Travis got injured isn’t a mentality thing either, which you’ve just acknowledged.

Genuinely no idea what you’re arguing.

Tyrone mentioned it here

Elliott Jackson and Ryan on the Arte Et Labore mentioned as I said previously.

Eustace gone, get over it. Ismael been here 3 games and you were saying similar last season when Eustace came in. Things haven't gone well for Ismael in the last 2 games and he got to start making more changes. We have to create more chances and get more crosses into the box.

so drop Pears and play Toth? make that decision then

don't get the hatred towards Forshaw and Sanderson from yourself. Forshaw and Sanderson is just steady player, nothing special.

You used to think ACD was great and the best thing since slice bread,  cos he had some pace and you were slamming everyone for not picking him. change your mind not?

Cantwell hasn't performed like I expected.

With Brittain out, that's probably how i'd go as well.

Not a lot of confidence that it will get a result but not really much else we can do
