Between them there will be a few million to put into the drawer, a couple of the higher earner off the books and an opportunity to go and get cheaper replacements. This is the long game - they will refuse to even speak to them about new contracts and in doing so force those players to scour the market for new clubs - they can't sit around for months or years waiting for Rovers to offer them terms, they will have agents looking at what else there is out there. Who can blame them. So then when their heads are turned and minds made up to go elsewhere Rovers can play the victim card and pretend that they wanted to keep those players but in the circumstances need to be letting them go. They've done this time and time again, such as with Lenihan and Nyambe. A lot of people fell for it last time. Surely they won't be so stupid to fall for it again? I shudder to think what sort of a season we will have without our best players. Relegation will be nailed on.

USABlue Posted Saturday at 23:35 Share Posted Saturday at 23:35 Oh God, imma need some couch time with a shrink. I don't think I make it through two more windows next season, or even one. We can all be guaranteed no exciting players.
Mercer Posted Sunday at 07:37 Share Posted Sunday at 07:37 Indulging in this thread is masochistic. You'll be saying the same thing in the summer if (when) we release / sell half this squad that has us in the top 6 under a good manager. Nyambe shouldn't have got a new contract. He isn't good full back and better as centre back in a back 3. No I won't be saying the same if Travis, Tronstad or Brittain are sold. On Hyam, I could be tempted to sell him if we receive a good offer for him especially if we re-sign Batth and another centre back signing. Plus we have Carter and Wharton aswell. I wouldn't sign any of the loan players(apart from Beck) we have here, would you? That's 5 players we have to replace. Beck would cost too much IMO and I can see Brentford or lower PL team signing him Would you re-sign Batth, Weimann and Ribeiro if it was your decision? I expect Dolan to leave. If Eustace was our manager still, I'd be re-signing Batth, Riberio and Weimann. Fairly straight forward decisions. Now that Ismael is here and seems to want to move to a possession based approach, I'm not so sure. I'd still sign up Ribeiro, I think, but no point in Batth, he isn't really the CB you want for a team passing it out from the back. Neither are Carter, Hyam and most definitely not Scott Wharton, who struggled under JDT, either tbh. Weimann probably, but it's largely down to the fact we don't have a pot to piss in, and he'll be a good option off the bench. He's an experienced championship player and has done well for us overall.

The academy market is probably one of the few we can be effective in. Every Premier League youth player seems over hyped these days. A scout who can separate the Becks from the Cosier-Duberry's would be valuable. His knowledge of international markets will always be beneficial. Unfortunately, if he is an effective operator, I'm sure he'll be alienated by the set up here and won't last.

He was a top scout on that game, with 17 for Judging Ability and 19 for Judging Potential (out of 20, for those who don't play the game). Also had Adaptability of 20, which he may need to adjust to the shit-storm that is this club...

JHRover Posted yesterday at 14:01 Share Posted yesterday at 14:01 It's the never ending conveyor belt/revolving door of new 'heads of' clicking into gear again, just in time for the summer transfer window and season ticket renewal time. Almost an annual event now. New 'head of' leading us into a 'new era', new manager/head coach, raft of new players. None of this is important, because what we actually need, new owners and new directors, remains a distant dream, and because of that everything else beneath remains totally futile, pointless and a waste of everyone's time. Unfortunately some still won't learn and I give it six weeks before we're being told to forget the past and get behind the new head of recruitment and head coach as they look to build an exciting new era. I'll be amazed if he makes it to the 12 months stage.
SuperBrfc Posted yesterday at 16:19 Share Posted yesterday at 16:19 31 year old. Will be cheap. Learning on the job. Biggest club he will have worked at. Exactly how this lot like it. Note the Barnet link too. A similar appointment a couple of years ago saw somebody come in as 'head of emerging talent' or some bullshit like that. He also had a previous role at Barnet.
