Gestede is trying the 'conditioning' tactic - something he probably learned on his course. Keep expectations low is the mantra from Ewood as any ambition is stifled and suffocated.Β

Waggott tried it with his interview a couple of summers ago when he did an interview at the Academy. Outside on a sunny day, in shirt sleeves trying to give off an aura of confidence he pretty much saidΒ  that staying up was his aim. I think it was the same interview when he lied about buying a new coach.

Where did the Wharton, Szmodics, Kaminski, Raya money go, Rudy?

You certainly haven't reinvested much of it into the squad.

He's a clown of the highest order. We're in massive, massive trouble with him making any decisions.

The good news is he's probably not making decisions of any magnitude.

The bad news is...

Who the hell are we gonna sell?? Not many assets we have.

I would imagine Brittain and Travis will have suiters with them being in the last years of there contracts.

Hardly going to be bringing in much cash though.

I'm pretty confident they will be able to scoop together upwards of Β£5 million if they get things right this summer. Brittain, Travis, Tronstad, Carter, Hyam and one or two of the academy lads, probably Harvey Higgins top of the list.Β

They'll also have their fingers and toes crossed that Adam Wharton gets bought by a big club and then they've a sell on fee to trouser, which at those sort of figures will probably take care of the annual losses in one swoop. Not only that but they will be able to boast about the Rovers' academy and how good it is that he's got a move to a giant club, utterly failing to read the room and recognise how totally ridiculous they are having bundled him out the door mid-season in the first place.Β

In theory sales of 2-3 of those above ought to significantly cut the wage bill again particularly when we factor in the departures of Sigurdsson and Dolan on top, but one thing that never seems to drop very much is the old wage bill / outgoings. It seems whatever savings we make on that front are quickly matched by costs somewhere else....

It doesn't matter how much in a way because we'll not see much of it , if any.

But I'd guess that Brittain, Travis and Dolan would bring in over Β£6M, possibly 8M. However we wouldn't get 3 better players for that and we won't be spending it anyway.

Who on earth are we going to sell for more than a million?!

Players with 1 year left on contracts won't go for more and there are little to no assets left. This is the fundamental flaw with the 'strategy' - they say they are developing assets, using the academy to then sell.Β

That model only works with reinvestment. We know that won't happen. Result - no assets.

The academy model is also broken as any decent prospect there can leave for compensation under current rules: see Finneran and the two lads linked to Arsenal now.

Other than that, we're in great shape.....

I would get Dilan back for next season and also sign Charlie Kelman from Leyton Orient 17 goals from the 23 year old striker.Β

Back to saying random League 1 players you probably have never seen and only mid way through April!

Markanday isnt good enough.

Gestede talking about summer window, usual guff about needing to sign a bunch of player, and that we will probably have to sell too.

Interesting that he corrected himself from "reinvest" from player sales to "some money perhaps" (paraphrasing).

Also said we won't have a budget of 15-20 million like other teams because "we aren't that club anymore". Why? The owners can afford it, we have the FFP leeway? Why can we as fans not expect to have a competitive budget just because they can't be bothered anymore?

Yes we need sign a number of new players who will fit into what Ismael(if he still here) style of play and I expect quite a few of signings from French, German and Belgium leagues.Β

What is a competitive budget at this level and how much do you want? I think we have similar to spend this summer as last season(24/25 season). Around the Β£4-Β£5m transfer fee. Need a new keeper for sure, centre back, box to box midfielder, 2 wingers, another striker. Hopefully Weimann and Batth sign for next season otherwise we might another 2 signings there. Right back if Duru is loan out for the season or injured.Β

Pears should be sold, JRC is another possible sale I would consider cos he hasn't improved, Maybe even a couple more

Some of that money cover their losses over a season and some gone to the running cost of the club.Β

Pasha said they spend Β£4.5m on transfer fees this season during the interviews he did

If you forsee Β£4-5m being spent then I suspect you are in a minority of 1.

Apologies, where is this interview?

And, we need to sell MORE fucking players??? What?Β

So, via this total prick, the club are trying to soften the fans up to the fact that we are selling our better players (Trav, Tronstad and Brittain) and NOT reinvesting any of that money? What about the Β£40m+ we've taken over the last few windows?Β

League one is inevitable.

It's just regurgitated from Gestede's podcast with Elliot a couple of weeks back.

No new information in the article.

Well Pasha fucking lied, didn't he, shock horror.

Gueye - 1.5

Ohashi - rumoured to be about 200k

Kargbo - 800k

Cantwell - 500k

Toth - 800k

3.8 million. And that's ignoring that Wahlstedt for Toth was practically a swap as they moved for the same fees and we brought in 9 mill from Szmodics, got the Raya money, Gally, Ennis etc. Why would we be spending 4-5 mill this season without major sales? Let alone just in the summer.

Iv no confidence they will spend that amount but the summer we sold Armstrong we hardly spent anything then the following summer fees were spent on Brittain,Hyam and Szmodic for 5/6 millionΒ

You have mentioned this a few times now.

That Β£4.5m does not include the Raya sell-on fee we received, which is anywhere between Β£4.5m and Β£6m.

We only spent Β£4.5m after selling upwards of Β£11m in the summer alone.

Who do we have that makes Β£11m so we can spend Β£4-5m?

Posted

To be fair they probably spent whatever loose change there was left in the calculations after budgeting past, present and future transfer income for wages and bills.

Didn't they say there was enough to cover it for the next twelve months or so ?

I expect the Venky brand will shove in a bit more sponsorship money to top it off but of course the ever lasting court case and guarantees will be the reason VH group doesn't slap in its now legendary annual 20 mill.

If we are relying on sales to fund the signings of 12 players in summer we are proper fucked πŸ˜‚Β

Be lucky to get more than Β£1 million for any of our players given their talent or contract status.

It doesn’t matter how much we get for any players anyway, it doesn’t go back into the team.
