Whilst i wouldn't have been chucking silly money at him he's another who could have been tied down earlier for a more sensible offer, people have heard that from his own mouth.

For an academy grad who cost nowt he was a rugged enough defender who might have commanded a modest fee at some point.

I don't think anyone we've had since has been much better tbh.

Yeah that's the point isn't it? Ok let him go if that's the decision but not for nothing.

Ridiculous when we are under-funded and cost-cutting everywhere.

Shame, been looking good lately

Pity that, but as nothing to play for may as well take the opportunity to have a look at a couple of youngsters ?

Yep, give Premier League clubs the chance to see if he's worth taking off us for next to nothing.

Sorry to be cynical but that's how I feel abut the club right now.

It's not that cynical, it's pretty much what's going to happen. There is a small chance however, that as he is only 17, if we give him some game time he might just sign a contract (whenever he is allowed to) to stay for another season or so.Β

Small chance but not sure what else we can do

I think we all consider them two toΒ  be overpaid, but surely Β£25m on wages is not now the real cost.

Well it cost them a couple of million to replace him anyway with Hyam so they didn't save a bean.

Looked a better player at first but defensively i don't think there's much between them, both good on their day but both with regular flaws.

How much does the actual first team wage bill cost ?

Think it was as low as 4 million when we hit league one.

I honestly don't have the foggiest, but I guess the wages for the staff, and the CEO and COO are taken into consideration.

I would love to see how it all adds up though, as I suspect someone is on big wages somewhere, who is not a player or a "Hands on" director.

the wage bill hasn't changed much over the years if you look at the company accountsΒ

I know it hasn’t and that’s the bit Im struggling with. We seem to have signed less talented players in the last 3-4 years, or to be fair, cheaper options, where you would expect lower wages to be paid, yet the Β£25m seems to be a constant.

The FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL WAGE BILL not the entire club.

Mowbray himself said they'd reduced it to something like 4 million in league 1, presumably taking into account the senior pros wage deferrals.

The majority of the wage bill will be FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL PLAYERS WAGES

No way were the wage bill in league 1 4m. We had Mulgrew, Whittingham, Graham, Dack, Bennett, Conway, Smallwood, Armstrong, etc. You honestly think the wage bill was Β£4m for that season?

Wasn't it the case it was reduced by Β£4m not it was Β£4m

Two of our directors are Ganhi Babu and Sreenivasa Rao.Β

I'd love to know the grand total of times those two have ever visited Ewood Park, yet I expect both will be on the payroll and won't be on peanuts.

Possibly, i think they took a 30% wage deferral but don't forget Rovers were still paying off some previously sacked people back then.

I just remember him banging on and 4 million sticks in the mind and there was also talk of a weekly wage budget for first team starters that meant players oddly left out occasionally.

Either way they weren't paying first team wages of 16.8 million to that squad in league 1.

How many financial directors does a club need ?

There was Charlie Cheston also before he left so that's 3 finance men plus the Chief Operating bean counter Suhail and Waggot himself.

Plus i presume club accountants and payroll officers.

Mike Cheston was our previously financial director before retiring to be replaced by Matt Wright as CFO.

We havent had any other financial director at RoversΒ
