Alan75 Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 Whilst Graeme Souness prepares a list of prospective players to strengthen his squad for next season, the Lancashire Evening Telegraph reports that Henning Berg may consider extending his contract for a further 12 months should Blackburn try to persuade him to postpone his retirement plans. With Souness reportedly being interested in Barcelona’s Frank de Boer and attempting to secure the permanent services of on loan defender Gresko, Bergs change of mind may be to late, bearing in mind that Rovers have two exciting young prospects in the shape of Tiny Taylor and Jay McEveley plus the experienced Craig Short, who has already signed an extension to his contact. Whilst discussions regarding Frank de Boer and Gresko are in their infancy, Rovers are reportedly close to agreeing a contract extension with captain Gary Flitcroft. A player that manager Graeme Souness has a high regards for, and is quoted as saying. "I'd like Garry Flitcroft to be here as long as I am here," "He is a great captain and an inspiration, both on and off the pitch. There's no doubt, we miss him when he's not out there.”
