April 14th 1979.

It is not often that Burnley make the front page of this site, however I would take this moment to remind all Blackburn Rovers Supporters, that today’s date goes down in Blackburn history as the last time that the Dingles managed to beat the Rovers.

In a game watched by 14,741 at Ewood Park, on the 14 April 1979, Burnley beat Rovers 2-1. Rovers goal being scored by the living legend, Simon Garner.

Since that day, 24 years ago today Rovers have gone on to be founder members of the Premier League, Premier League Runners-Up, Premier League Champions, Worthington Cup Winners and played in Europe, whilst Burnley have floundered in the lower leagues and even narrowly missing relegation to the conference.
