Rovers U-19 Team have won the National U-19s title against Aston Villa

A 0-0 Draw at Villa Park tonight, to follow up the 5-3 victory at Ewood last week was sufficient.

Bobby Downes’s U19 players tonight played a game out of the Colin Hendry, Henning Berg coaching manual when they ground out a goal less draw against Aston Villa to claim the U19 Championship.

Defending a 5-3 lead from last weeks home leg, Blackburn’s academy players were'nt prepared to let a determined Villa side snatch the trophy from their grasp. Villa went close to scoring early in the game, creating a string of chances in the first half but couldn’t find a way through a resolute Blackburn defence.

In the second half Rovers played a possession game allowing Villa few chances, although Villa did hit the woodwork late on and Rovers also had to clear one attempt off the line.

After leading the league for most of the  season it was a fitting finale for the U19 to finish the season as Champions.
