NEARREY Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Obviously the LET have been reading this messageboard over the summer and realised Rev doesn't speak for the majority of Rovers fans!!!
RevidgeBlue Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Has Revidge been given the chop with the launch of a new season? Or is it that he is on holiday? Tonights Lancashire Evening Telegraph. Errr...... yes I've been given the chop Lynn, not really any other way of putting it I'm afraid. There has though been an initial suggestion I might have some involvement with a new LET project but nothing definite has transpired as yet. P.S. Best of luck to Jason.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Jason was part of the new "Fans Jury" feature last season on a Thursday night. Other than that don't know him.
Ste B Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Posting on here probably didnt help you Simon, after all the LET do read this site.
1864roverite Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 if they do then why dont they carry the thoghts of the majority on the forum directly to the club ! it would help immensely :!:
Scotty Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 I always enjoyed reading your column Rev. You may have talked rubbish from time to time (imho ) but at least you were prepared to come on here and argue your case. I guess being a "fans representative" is a thankless job as we all have different opinions. Anyone who writes that column will get stick - I just hope the new guy has the courage to come on here and back up his arguments as well.
Anti Euro Smiths Fan Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Sorry that you've been given your P45 from the LET, Simon. I used to enjoy your columns and will miss them this season. I know some people on the M/B felt that you were too negative sometimes, but personally I think you were being both honest and perceptive in your assessments. I don't myself think you were being overly negative - Good job that Jim's not doing the column - He'd be much worse, and would be calling for the Manager's head every week!
Bob Crompton Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Going off his picture on the website this Jason chap looks a little like Jamie Oliver.
blue phil Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Errr...... yes I've been given the chop Lynn, not really any other way of putting it I'm afraid. . You're obviously too honest, Rev . A "real" journalist would have found another way of putting it - new avenues to explore , a fresh challenge , etc , etc . Or even , early retirement ..... :'>
broadsword Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 So Clint, will you be taking the Carpets back on the road now that you've given the LET the shove? Let's face it mate, we're trying to show the World we've moved away from Hovis adverts and whippets into the brave, corporate prawn sandwich environment which is "soccer". Having someone who wears flares and beanie hats pen the weekly column in the local rag was a non-starter really :'> I'm sure you'll get over the rejection in the fullness of time. At least your successor has had a dig at Bumley, so it's not all bad. And then there's Steve Tossings column! Hee hee. Apparently 16 players have left the Turd, with FOUR coming in!
Backroom trueblue Posted August 12, 2003 Backroom Posted August 12, 2003 Well Rev.. I for one will miss your weekly narratives. Ps.. rumour has it you got the boot coz you had your hair cut !!
Anti Euro Smiths Fan Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Or even , early retirement ..... :'> I can exclusively reveal that Jim's "early retirement" hasn't quite gone to plan. He received only a miniscule pay-off, after boss Rupert Murdoch was enraged by one of his articles criticising Aussies. Such was the paltry sum Jim received, that he's now been forced into making an ignominious return to the old career he had prior to becoming a journalist. "I thought my days with a clipboard checking bus tickets were over," Jim complained bitterly last week. "This is a humiliation, and it's all thanks to that barsteward Murdoch. I'm dreading going back to work on those buses again," he said. Yesterday Jim was kitted out in his old uniform, and can be seen back at work in the photo below......
AlanK Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Sorry to hear you`ve lost your slot Rev. Can`t say i`ll miss it as I live in oxfordshire and therefore don`t read the LET. Maybe you were to critical of Flitty in your articles :'>
jim mk2 Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Funny you should mention that... My local bus company is seeking part-time drivers, I applied for a job last week and the interview is next Tuesday. Bit of a comedown after I didn't get the gravediggers job I had set my heart on but beggars can't be choosers.
colin Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Never mind Rev, It happens, more time to spend with the family & all that stuff. Give it a couple of months and you'll wonder why you bothered spending those hours putting down your feelings.
Yorkshire Blue Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 So Clint, will you be taking the Carpets back on the road now that you've given the LET the shove? Now that's funny!
Bob Crompton Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Sorry, just had to put them next to each other to compare. Oh crikey just thought, there won't be any trouble for posting that pic and logo thing? If there could be please do delete this post.

Exiled in Toronto Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I seem to recall Revidge telling us how there was some sort of contest last time, which clearly no-one is aware of this time around. So how was this Jason chap chosen? Probably related to the editor or something. And I can imagine that Scummings only lingers on due to the absence of basic writing skills among the few remaining hardy souls witnessing the second demise of our neighbours.
USABlue Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I can't beleive S.CUMmmings is there still and Rev is not. Surprised S.CUMmings has not mentioned it. I think rev just put it like he felt it, "A Fans View" unfortunately as time progressed it would seem it was not the view the LET wanted. I had "issues" with some of Revs articles too, we did chat about it so it's not like I'm having ago. Personally I think Rev is well shut of 'em, now he can just enjoy the games without wondering about what to write. If we have a bad day on the field he can go drown his sorrows and put it behind him instead of having to re-hash the whole horrible event for a column.
USABlue Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 In this week's column, Mr Whalley started off by talking about his attractive girlfriend running off with someone else. (I was not quite sure if Jason still had his problematic love life on the brain, when he went on in his column to describe the importance of 'good penetration'.) Hah Hah good one.. For those not happy with the switch, it is as easy to voice your displeasure to the LET as it is to gripe about it on here.
