There are times when I think that S-Cummings is a Rovers columnist. He tends to write more about Rovers than 'Bunley' anyway  :D

I understand the Cummings, because that's his name, but what about the goings? Does it refer to Burnleys credibility? Well no they never had any. Their best players? Well no they never had any. Does it mean their cash? Well no they never had any. Their dignity maybe?

And another question... If the new writer looks like Jamie Oliver, who does Cummings look like?

(cant' you tell I'm bored at work!)  :D  :D  :D

A slating of Lucas Neill that some would be proud of.  Is that more like it?

SCUMmings, a quick speed read, seems like he did not even mention the game.  If he did not go how can he be so irate with the facilities.  regardless of how poor, it has to be more than the clarrots deserve.

BTW, Sam, how was the "pure football" from the clarrots tonight.  Refs fault again was it?

The only thing you lot whined about more than ITV digital last season was the bloody refs, only when you lost though.

agree, USAblue, this article was rubbish.

What's the point in just using 100s of words saying what we all know; That it was a stupid tackle and that we only played with 10 men most of the game?

Everyone knows that! Every paper writes that!

I like LET cause I usually get more information about Rovers than anywhere else (except from this board maybe :p ), however, that article is no better than a regular after match commentary here in the norwegian local papers.

Nah bring on Revidge :)

Firstly, let me introduce myself. I am the infamous Jason Whalley that you have written so 'eloquently' about and having being given a tip off from a friend some time ago felt I should have a right to reply on some of the aforementioned comments.

I am not a friend or relative of Andy Neild or indeed anyone at the LET, I was asked to do the column and I said yes, simple as that. I am sorry things did not work out for regular poster Simon but I wasn't to know the circumstances surrounding his departure. May I wish Simon well, it takes bottle to put your name and face to your views and I give him the utmost respect for that.

I do not go to all away games because I have a young family. I informed Paul Plunkett of this when the offer was made and he was quite happy with this fact. Yes, I could have gone to the Chelsea game and all the others for that matter but I could also be paying child support and seeing my kids only on a Sunday. BTW I wont be at Portsmouth either.

If you don't agree with my opinions, fine, that's the great thing about football, we all have opinions and no-one can always claim to be right but all I can say is that the personal feedback I've had has been good and not just from friends either. That's what made it somewhat sobering to read some of the replies on this thread !!

Good on you coffeeman, you think the last article was 'rubbish'. Yes, I did talk of only ten men, Lucas costing us the game etc., but I also expressed concern about the wider picture regarding Lucas's discipline and also touched on defensive communication possibly not being the best. Then again that's your opinion and you're free to dish it out. If you think the 'slating' of Lucas was bad you should have seen the unedited version.

That's all for now, may you all continue to have your say and at the end of the day let's all remember, we all want the same thing and that's for Rovers to do well. And for anyone who wants to publicly lambast me, I can be found in Uncle Jack's before and after home games and I sit on row 19 seat 130 odd in the Blackburn End.

Best Regards to all.

Welcome to the messageboard Jason.

Personally I think it does you great credit to come on here, identify yourself, explain things and put your own point of view. Please keep it up.

Now that you've visited once you may have to come back again at least once a week  :)

Who does he have to be accepted by?

He is being criticised on here by people who probably wouldn't have the guts or intelligence to publish a weekly column in the local paper.

Both he and Revidge deserve immense credit whether you agree with what they write or not.

Welcome to the messageboard.

I agree with you, putting yourself in the public eye like you have, deserve a pat on the back.

Everyone doesn`t agree with everyone else`s opinions. That`s life, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I hope that Jason can talk more about the Rovers` wins than Rovers` sending offs.

Best of luck with it mate.

Two things have emerged from this. First of all fair play to Jason for coming on here and stating his point of view. I think that had the job been taken up by another messageboard member after Rev then this thread would never have lasted this long.

Secondly it also illustrates how easy it is for people to read the views of us all on this board. The next time you write how goddam useless that blimmin Aussie full back is and how he should blimmin well sod off etc.. remember that they may well be reading it.

Oh, and just incase that is true:- Houllier your a bitter idiot !!!!

:D

Welcome Mr Whalley, good of you to join us.  First let me say, I commented that you slated Neill, you did, so what?  I never implied that it was bad to do so or that the article was rubbish, those were the words of a subsequent poster who put those words in my mouth, so to speak.

In actual fact my comment WAS intended to be more complimentary.  Some on here have commented that you were too bland, perhaps politically correct.  Clearly there was little PC in your lambasting of Neill, and hence my question, is that more like it.

You have a difficult job, as Revidge did before you, you mention that we all have our opinions this is true but I hope you find that you have the intestinal fortitude when some of the folks on here are voicing theirs.

Good Luck.

Sorry, didn't mean to be ambiguous, I wasn't getting at you you're one of the few supportive posters! It was the subsequent post that took your words out of context.

Oh and now I've joined the fray I won't be hiding when/if things turn nasty.

Best Regards.

Aah! and there lies the rub....

You attend the game pished and sit behind the goal where you cannot see the shape of the play properly!

That explains a lot      :<img src=:'>  (Lol....)

Welcome to the board Jason, it's good that you come here and answer ;-)

I totally see your point about the family, being good to your children is the most important thing you can do in this stage of life.

About the Neill talk, well, I'm just tired of reading page up and down how bad the tackle was. Had just read some norwegian papers that didn't mention anything else of Rovers, so I logged on to LET to get some other rovers news only to see exactly tha same ;-)

Keep up the work

Welcome Jason and full marks for your honest and frank approach to your detracters on here.  We are all 'Rovers' and  I dont want you to think that I am giving you a hard time without reason but could you possibly clear up a few points that I have quoted from your post and which I am still not clear about....

1.  Surely thats bloody odd!  Why you in particular then?  No advert for the position, no interview, no connection with anything in fact...... so can I assume that you were incredibly chosen (on a probability of something like 1 in 100,000) by a blindfolded Paul Plunkett throwing a dart at a Blackburn postal directory?

2.  You write in the past tense Jason!......you obviously know them now then so will you now inform us all exactly what those circumstances were then?

3.  No problems with that Jason BUT why did he not simply pick somebody else who does attend every match including away matches?  I cannot for one minute think that he will allow Andy Neild the same luxury!

Welcome to the board Jason, hope you'll be a regular contributor.

As I said before best of luck with the column.

However if you don't mind me saying IMO it is difficult if not impossible to write about something you haven't actually seen.

Therefore given the financial constraints the LET are forced to work under and your situation I would suggest taking full advantage of Sky/Norwegian TV where available and if possible try to get to those matches which aren't being televised.

Or do you want me to do the away games?

:)  :p

All the best

Simon

I wonder what sort of lucrative deal Jason negotiated with the LET (assuming he did not join the union and therefore is not being paid the going rate).

I head from a good source that Revidge was on a nice little screw of £100,000 plus company car and all expenses paid executive seats at home and away matches.

Jason should not have accepted anything less.

If that was true surely he would be known as RibbleValleyBlue or AlderleyEdgeBlue or somesuch now?

Rather than having just a single fan giving their opinions week after week and becoming repetitive I think a better idea might have been to have a few contributors and have them give in a column every few weeks or so. This would have allowed both Rev and Jason to contribute and lead to a broader range of opinion. Instead we essentially have the same viewpoint repeated a number of times throughout the season. After all, the difference of opinion is what makes this board interesting and a good disagreement always helps. Of course there is no option for that when only one opinion of a fan is given. Look at the John Curtis debates in the past two years or so, totally opposing views from members on here but in the LET we only ever got Rev's opinion.

Still better than that 'fan's jury' crap it does every week. Which shows maybe the LET should stick to just the one opinion after all.  For those who haven't seen it, best description would be a wonderful mixture of a crap question (usually a closed one) paired with equally dreary answers. Sample question- Are you going to Turkey? Usual answer- No, but i'll be flipping well watching on telly!

Great... glad I wasted a small part of my life reading that rubbish!

Fans should be coming to this site to get all the Rovers news (rumours/fantasies/predictions) not reading some bloke who sits in the pub.  If I had Foxtel I could do a better job from Australia.

I agree.

LET shouldn't be employing a 'pundit' who can't even be arsed to get to the matches.  If he can't make it to a Saturday afternoon match to see Duffer line up against Rovers for the 1st time in his career, then I can't see him making a rainy cold winter's midweek trip anywhere.

Sorry Jason, but I still stand my my 'harsh' words.  You really need to get to the away games, or at least see them somewhere to be able to give insightful comments of the game.

Also, the sooner you start populating your piece with clever one liner put-downs directed towards the dingles the better.  One of the highlights of reading RB's column was that it was funny.

Maybe we should get colin to proof read your script before it goes to press?

To Jasons defence, the game in question (as far as I know) was the Chelsea game, and he DID see it televised at the pub.

If I have fallen off and are completely wrong here, feel free to correct me.

Cheers :)

Thanks for your comments tnr, here are the answers.

1) I was on the 'jury' last year, that's how he knew who I was and I can only assume he liked some of the earlier contributions from there.

2) I haven't a clue why Rev was relieved of his duties and Paul Plunkett certainly never told me. The circumstances I
