Barry Ferguson, the Glasgow Rangers midfielder and captain, has today signed for Blackburn Rovers in a deal reported to be worth £7.5m. The initial fee is in the region of £6.5m with a further £1m payable in instalments. Ferguson underwent a medical at Ewood Park earlier today and has been offered a five year contract reported to be worth £35,000 per week.

Speaking to the press Graeme Souness commented that "Blackburn Rovers have exceeded my wildest dreams in the signings we have been able to make this summer." “I believe Barry Ferguson has the ability to become a top, top player in the Premiership.”
