Souness must go ?

I feel you contradict yourself, sack him but only if there is someone else as GS is a great manager, how does that work, surley if he is a great manager we should keep him as we are bound to come good, all teams have there bad patch etc etc.

I think any talk of sacking GS is premature at best, it would simply make no sense in football and financial terms:

- Surely GS record in previous seasons should allow him the time to turn things around.

- Why sack a man when 3 months ago we let spend £15 million. (unless your spurs of course)

Be patient and we will come good, how good depends on certain supporters (rediculous) expectations.

The suggestion is that we won't have any available cash in Jan. Kluivert- no chance, he has a small release fee but his wages would be astronomical.

Souness (if he is still around by then) will have to dabble in the loan signings market. ANd that inevitably means we either bring in promising youngsters from a bigger club OR we get in fringe players from another club.

My suggestions, in terms of loan signings, would be Nikos Dabizas from Newcastle to sure up the back. Forward - Marinelli from Boro (Although he wouldn't necessarily bang in many goals, he would provide creativity).

ANd for left wing - Glenn Little. OK maybe not but can't think of a decent left footer available.

Good call.

Didn't think he was a forward though? More of a creative midfielder. Left footed?

- Souness must stay!!! Whats wrong with you people?? I wont even care argue about it!

- Defence: we`ll have Short back now, Babbel and he will become great, we also need to offload some if we`ll bring in someone, we have Babbel, Todd, Short, McE, Johannson, Taylor and Amo for central def. Taylor and Amo/johannson out, and get J. Stam!!! (could happen)

-Left wing!! Thats something we need! I see you mention Reid from 1. div, never seen him play, but sounds talented. Main criteria is pace.

and flush this topic!!!

he has not heart, in training he shows no desire and maybe thats why he does not play from quotes i have heard over the years, although he was meant to be the next Batistuta

it must be said, souness is under a bit of pressure now. i 100% am behind him, but it doesn't hide the fact that a quarter of the season has passed, and we are in the relegation zone. lose to leicester and he really will be under a bit of pressure... hopefully though, it wont come to this.

Kluivert for Rovers  :<img src=:'>

Seriously though, there isn't a better manager available anywhere in the country which is why Spurs look like there going to have to settle for Pleat.  I'd be extremely surpised if the club were to gamble our Premiership future on an un-proven manager like Paul Sturrock, Paul Hart or Ronnie Moore.

As for the left wing position, Andy Reid has an interview printed in a few papers today saying that he never wants to leave Forest and wants to get promoted with them.  I know a lot of people say this then move but it did seem a bit more geniune the the old 'I love the club' drivel.  As far as I can see De Pedro is the best option if he is still available for £2 million.

In the summer if we'd kept Dunn and Duff and Berg and spent NO money everyone would have been mightily upset I'm sure.

So having made £7-£8m profit on the summer dealings I'll be extremely brassed off if an announcement is made that the manager has no money to spend in the transfeer window.

As to who the manager should be by then, nearly fell off my chair this morning looking at the League table. A defeat today would make us rock bottom. (Let's not split hairs about goal difference please.)

As I see it we have four matches in November, three of which are very winnable (Leicester Everton and Spurs) and one from which anything will be a bonus. (Manure + biased home ref at OT)

In December we have a further five games which take us up to the halfway stage of the season. However we've all heard that seemingly immutable stat whereby the team that is bottom at Christmas is always relegated. Not sure we can afford to wait until New Year if things haven't improved by then.

So as far as Souness is concerned it's a vastly improved performance and an absolute minimum of 6 points required in  November for me, followed by a similar improvement throughout December. If November fails to bring any improvement then sorry, no-one is bigger than the Club and I feel we will have to look at a different approach.

Marinelli is a second forward/ attacking midfielder and was definitely not considered as a goalscorer like Batistuta. He was actually compared to Maradona - but which Argeninian player isn't?

The guy has awesome ability and just needs someone to give him a settled run in a side to perform.

Time to lift and dust this thread.

Does anyone now agree with me that the man has lost the plot and should leave the club?

I jokingly predicted before the season that we might go down but I never seriously expected it to happen.

As long as Souness remains at the club we are doomed. The players have lost confidence and no longer have any faith in the manager.

The board should act now.

Not surprised to see me post here, eh?

To be honest, it doesn't matter who we replace with Souness. We can disagree about that when the time comes but Souness simply has to go NOW.

Right, he may be a good manager in your opinions (you know what I think) but things have got stale. The players aren't responding to him anymore - we need a fresh face to get the players going.

When things are going bad and confidence is low, the usual remedy is a major shock to the players' systems. This can only happen by sacking the manager.

The same happened with George Burley at Ipswich. The fans thought he was God for getting them into Europe and the Premiership. But things fell into steady decline and Burley could do nothing about it. He is and was a good manager - but there are times when the manager has to be dropped for the good of the club.

I think that time has come with Souness.

I'm very depressed so maybe now's not the time to make a judgement.

But sod it, we clearly can't keep the goals out the two we conceded today were bloody shockers. We play far too much football through the middle and don't pose enough of an attacking threat. Yorke although he did play better today just doesn't put the opposition on the backfoot.

Shipping goals and not scoring them leads only one way - relegation.

Although I've always rated Graeme we might have to say goodbye to give the players a fresh face and change things up a bit. We could certainly do with a few more faces in teh team.

Looking at the match today, as soon as the first went in we looked like a relegation team, surprising because before we looked OK - the confidence just seemed to go (not surprisingly).

I really wouldn't like to say "get rid" now, but with transfers only allowed in January it's hard to see where Souness is going to get three points from since he's tried more or less every permutation of team already. I really haven't a clue on what we should do and I don't envy the board.

Sad to see him arguing with the 4th official again today.

:unhappy:

Only the recent arrivals to this site will ever agree with what you have to say Jim.

Nobody can blame the manager for today’s display. Workmen like with no end product, but what can the manager do about that? we had enough chances to have murdered Leicester but they didn't go in.

WE WERE MUGGED.

Give Souness a big pay off and bring in WHO?

Because we have no money to build a new side and I doubt anyone willing to take the job would turn the current crop into title contenders. But that comment doesn't mean these players are bad players because they are not.

Only the brain dead are asking for the sacking of the manager. No he's not beyond criticism but looking at the wider picture it's clear to most supporters that we just can't afford to let the manager go.

You're beginning to sound like your mate Garry 'Bitter and twisted' Hickson
