Billy Castell Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 I don't think he is, but that may be down to his contract situation, or the coach wanting younger players. Hell, let's get both !.
Bobby G Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 (edited) De Pedro is 31 now I think. No he isnt in the Spain team. The new coach has used younger players. In fact,I dont think he was a regular for Sociedad last season because he refused to sign a new contract. He had 11 starts and 2 sub appearances with 2 goals in LA LIGA and CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. Edited June 15, 2004 by Bobby G
emerton Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 its reasonable to see why de pedro was left out of the squad for euro 2004, lack of match practice and the form of vicente, vicente was very good in game 1
Morph Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Should imagine that his international opportunities have been somewhat limited since the emergence of Vicente (now he does look the business, just a shame he'd cost the earth), Torres, Reyes et al. If de Pedro is free and he's good enough then it could be a smart move, and it would give the likes of Jemal Johnson another year or two in which to develop with a view to replacing de Pedro in the fullness of time. Regarding Nicky Butt; good (if limited) player, and would certainly be an improvement on the ageing Flitcroft, but £5 million? Naaah.
blue phil Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 He had an assist on the first goal and was a constent threat for the Odd defence. If he can cope with an odd defence he'll love it here....
Crunching Tackler Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Skysports Pedersen happy to stay Although it doesn't really say he would not come. Perhaps if he does leave Tromso he doesn't want to leave with fans screaming for his head because he wanted to go so much. I'm confused.
philipl Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 My reading is that the Rovers deliberately cooled this potential transfer to see if the player (or his agent) have any hunger for Prem soccer. On that basis, I very much doubt we will see him at Ewood.
baberg Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 (edited) I know that Morten wouldn´t mind going to Rovers if Tromsø decides to sell him. On the other hand, he is having a great time in Tromsø, the club is leading the PL (maybe CL next season...), he is the new Norwegian football star, he is only 22, and everybody tells him that it would be good for him to wait a year or two before going abroad. His father - a former PL-player for Bodø/Glimt and Vålerenga - agrees to this (Morten still has an apartment in his parents house!). I have written on these pages a number of times that Rovers can sign him for 25-30 mill if we can wait until october/november. Otherwise he will be too expensive. Why not take a chance on buying him now, and let him play in Tromsø until the end of the Norwegian season? I expect Morten to be a great success in the WC-qualifications this autumn (against Italy etc), and then his price-tag definitely will increase. I fear that ManUnited or some other rich club will buy him next winter then Edited June 16, 2004 by baberg

Steddy Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 Morten G. Pedersen have just scored a great goal after 7 mins. against Fredrikstad. They have played 18 mins so far. I think he have 5 goals in 12 games. Good for a winger.
Steddy Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 2-1 M. G. Pedersen with a goal and a assist after 60 mins.
Rover_Shaun Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 Who cares? We're not going to buy him now Think it's time to padlock this topic?
John Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 we are not buying him anymore as we went for the older, cheaper option. Interesting article nethertheless- http://msn.skysports.com/skysports/article...1140505,00.html
Eddie Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Seeing how interested he is in a move to United it's probably best that we didn't go for him anyway.
herbergeehh Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Don't really see the connection there, Eddie, even if he's a United-supporter doesn't mean he wouldn't give 100 percent for Rovers. Heck, most people are manure-fans or liverpool-fans these days anyway.. I hope he stays in Tromsø till after the season, and that we sign him next season or in January if we can get the cash then!

I agree, and cite Man U fan Henning Berg, and Liverpool fan Ole Gunnar Solskjhjiierer as evidence.
Maverick Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Tromsø have today comfirmed that Blackburn Rovers made a new bid for Morten Gamst Pedersen on friday night. The news doesn't say anything about how big the bid is. On wedsday there where 7 Premier League clubs in Oslo to watch him play for Norway against Belgium. http://www.til.no/ViewArticle.aspx?ArticleID=1635
Maverick Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 and how did he play ? Not so bad in the second half, but poor in the first. The Norwegian team wasn't any good, so he wasn't alone in being under standard that night. Don't think he is in his best form at the moment.
Eddie Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 I hope we don't end up paying too much for him simply because we can't find anyone else. He sounds an exciting talent, and for the right price, it would be great to have a new type of player in the team.
