Blueboy Downunder Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 if supposedly leeds are ready to let him go for afree....then what happens to that 4 million quid taht we were told was available to spend....goes towards paying off club debts? goes towards the january transfer budget? or even towards next seasons transfer kitty? if we can get matteo then i feel we don't need any more.
super_neill Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 Matteo is on holiday and has already said he will definately sign once he returns and it was all sorted out before he went.
Nate Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Matteo is on holiday and has already said he will definately sign once he returns and it was all sorted out before he went. Ala Roy Keane situation if you ask me.
Blueboy Downunder Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Matteo is on holiday and has already said he will definately sign once he returns and it was all sorted out before he went. ala de pedro aswell mate. that signing was done months and months ago because it simply does not happen that we can sign a player that quickly.

So why did we offer well over the odds for Pedersen if we had already bagged De Pedro?
greggyk Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 we signed jon stead in 2 days! also the mikey gray deal was done very quick
Hughesy Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 At the end of the season JW said we had 3-4 million, now we have signed 3 players for £100,000, does any1 believe we are going to offer £3 million for sum1? Any news on the Butt specualtion?
thenodrog Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 At the end of the season JW said we had 3-4 million, now we have signed 3 players for £100,000, does any1 believe we are going to offer £3 million for sum1? Does anybody believe, Hughesy, that these 3 have not had a signing on 'bung' and are all going to play for nothing? That original 4 mill will be looking a lot less now! Why do you think that it was specifically to waste by paying transfer fees to other clubs rather than simply an amount of money to be used for signing new players? Think about it!
Hughesy Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 They came out and publicly said they had that amount and then a few weeks later souness said he had no money, so where has it all gone? On signing on fees? I hope not.
Rover_Shaun Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 They came out and publicly said they had that amount and then a few weeks later souness said he had no money, so where has it all gone? On signing on fees? I hope not. Think people............as JW and GS have both said the £4m was for transfers and WAGES
Hughesy Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 What we would do for some big investment. Maybe that Thai can buy a 30% stake in us for say £50 million. If only!
RoyRover Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 This would be a very poor signing in my opinion. He is 30 years old, he played in the defence of possibly the worst team in the Premiership lasy yeart. He is injury prone and the money could be used to get someone younger, or pay the wages of someone out of contract like Thomas Helveg. It better not be our last signing, because Souness said that he wanted 4 players, which we need.
thenodrog Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 (edited) They came out and publicly said they had that amount and then a few weeks later souness said he had no money, so where has it all gone? On signing on fees? I hope not. Read your own sig Hughesy and think of transfer fees. Why do you think an out of contract spanish international chooses to play for Blackburn Rovers specifically? Do you think that he's read about our cafe society and the many tapas bars to be found on the Barbary coast? Ditto for Matteo? Ditton for Dickov? When you have done that then take 5 whilst you read Big Sams predicament at Notlob. Why is the current world of football 'transfers' so difficult for people to understand? Have you not heard of Bosman? Put it another way Hughesy Half price happy hour in your local is 6-7pm, you are in a party of 10 and it your round and you only have a tenner to spend. It's 5.59pm. So do you 1. Order 10 drinks there and then and borrow the rest of the money? (City) 2. Order 10 doubles and borrow ALL the money and end up having to go home early and stay in for a month skint and in hock (Leeds) 3. Wisely but boringly dont get into a big round in the first place. (west Brom / wolves) 4. Dont ever go out but simply stay in with your sister? (Burnley) 5. Order Dom Perignon champagne and bend over in the back yard for some Russian gangster for a few quid? (Chelski) 6. Order pomagne and bend over for some Egyptian gangster or a soft porn baron. (Fulham/ Brum) 7. Only ever go out in happy hour (Notlob / Charlton) or 8. You dont earn as much as your mates but you stil want to stay out as long so you use your head by going for a quick slash and coming back a minute later? Edited June 21, 2004 by thenodrog
Cheshireblue Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Quality. Hughesy - Is your brain actually connected to any other part of your body?
bob fleming Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 8. You dont earn as much as your mates but you stil want to stay out as long so you use your head by going for a quick slash and coming back a minute later? Superb Could we get rid of the "Arte et Labore" bit on the badge and convert the above into latin? "Blackburn Rovers Football Club" - "Staying Out Late By Going For A Slash And Not Getting A Round In"

Superb Could we get rid of the "Arte et Labore" bit on the badge and convert the above into latin? "Blackburn Rovers Football Club" - "Staying Out Late By Going For A Slash And Not Getting A Round In" I think Everton's motto is something similar to that:- "Nil Sats or pissi optimum"
blue/white Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 (edited) Quality stuff that, good chuckle first thing in the am..... but I thought Everton's motto was: 'What's Blackburn doing?' Edited June 21, 2004 by blue/white

He's terribly average, probably the worst RB in the Serie A! PS: Great post thenodrog!
Backroom trueblue Posted June 21, 2004 Backroom Posted June 21, 2004 It better not be our last signing, because Souness said that he wanted 4 players, which we need. That was before he was told there was no money available ! Keep up with the times... Souey has said that any other signings will have to be freebies and Bosman's (whether you choose to believe that is another matter )
BRFC4EVA Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Its all gone silent on the Matteo front, anybody got any updates?
