roversmum Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 In the interests of research (or so he says) Mr Roversmum has been busy watching his tapes of the Spanish matches circa World Cup 2002. The lad is certainly most impressive. Mr Cole and young Jon should be able to make much of his superb crosses. Roll on the new season.......

tashor Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 There was a man, a Spanish man Who won our love through his brilliance All Ewood cared, that went unsaid We all relied on his resilience And Javier's the only wing in town And every man that he beats looks a clown And watching him it's easy to pretend We'll never loose again And keeping to himself he plays the game Without our love it wouldn't be the same While play goes on around him everywhere We're watching Javier Another game, a loosing game So sad to say that his leg's broken And through the match, the Ewood night Our eyes are closed, cruel fate has spoken And Javier was the only wing in town And every man that he beat looked a clown And watching him it was easy to pretend We'd never loose again And keeping to himself he watches the game Without our love it'll never be the same While play goes on around him everywhere Poor injured Javier Our little hope, went up in smoke Just how it went, goes without saying Javieeeeeeer And without him it's easy to pretend We'll never score again Ohhh And weeping to ourselves we watch the game Despite our love it always ends the same While play goes on around us everywhere We're missing Javier... Javier!! Javier!!

colin Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 It's either from Cosi fan Tutte or Madam Butterfly, anyway, the chant had already been appropriated for Di Canio. "Franciso de Pedro! Franciso de Pedro!" then higher: "Franciso de Pedro! Franciso de Pedro!" If that's the same as the "Sit Down Pinocchio" that everyone sings to Phil Thompson of Liverpool then it's "La Donne e Mobile" from Verdi's Rigoletto. Cheeky Sidders told us that a while back. And if it isn't, then what the heck.

rover6 Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 (edited) The people in charge of the Blackburn Rovers have been enchanted with the hiring of the ex- realist, after, according to they assure through his page Web, they saw frustrated his draftee "the last season". The president of the Blackburn, John Williams, affirmed yesterday in the English city that "as soon as we heard that Of Pedro he was available, Graeme Souness - the trainer placed his list of priorities". "Of Pedro he is a player of proven level and our fans must be very contentments of which Vista our blue and white t-shirt", indicated the deluded president of the English square. On the other hand the technician, Graeme Souness, emphasized that "Javier de Pedro is a left-handed person with great international experience that will contribute goals with its game. He has an incredible ability with the left leg and two seasons ago he was the best assistant of Spanish Liga The vagaries of AltaVista translation Like the bit about John Williams, the deluded president and Graeme Sounes, the technician Edited June 20, 2004 by rover6
G Somerset Rover Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 Has anybody came across anything that Javier's said about his move? I cant find anything!
Blueboy Downunder Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 i am interested to hear what javier actually thinks about this move?? he turned down 7 clubs from his homeland to come and play for rovers in the premiership....well me thinks he might be getting more tahn what he was being offered back home. anyway, hopefully he can be a sensation for us on the left side. technically, most of the europeans are very very good and i hope that this will be the case as well as hoping that he has desire.

As long as i know De Pedro said many times in the last years that he wanted to try a new experience playing abroad, and the league he liked the most was the English one, so maybe he's losing money for coming here, but this is his desire. Is the same that happened with Guardiola when he left Barça to play in Italy. I think De Pedro hasn't said about the trade yet. Probably we'll have to wait until the official press conference (you know, when the player takes the shirt with the coach and speaks to the journalists). Do you know when will the press conference and official introducing take place? I want to see pics of de Pedro in the blue and white (excepting the Real Sociedad's shirt, of course ).
