neophox Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Yes he's coming on a free transfer and has agreed a three year contract.
neophox Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Well now when he comes on a free maybe we casn go out and buy some young player for the future too.
Cocker Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Fantastic - best signing since John Stead Really made up
broadsword Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 So that's Dickov for £150,000, de Pedro for nothing and Matteo for nothing (but maybe some transfer budget will be used to pay his wages). That's pretty good horse trading. Now will someone PLEASE take Yorke off our hands. He's about as useful as an aertex johnny.
greggyk Posted July 7, 2004 Author Posted July 7, 2004 Nothing on Sky about it - shows how important we are or shows how ###### they are!
Ossydave Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Well chuffed with this signing Another player with good leadership qualities too and will lead by example. Amo/Matteo/Fergie potentially rallying the troops next season can only be good news in my book.
SouthAussieRover Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Good on you Kamy. This may well prove to be one interesting signing.
Blackpool_Rover Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Im happy!!!!! Some excellent business done by souness this summer. 150k spent. get in!
bob fleming Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Well done again Kamy. Never far wrong when it comes to BRFC. You've gotta be pleased with the transfers we've made (so far?) - Spanish International Left Winger, Top scorer for a Premier League Team last season and Captain of a Premier League Team last season. How much would that lot have cost 12 months ago? Anyway - £150,000 can't be bad. Of course there are these guys wages to consider which means that the term "free" doesn't exactly count for much these days when it comes to transfers but personally I think the club's done really well. If Mr Yorke would just do one - who know's? there might be a couple of quid left over for another signing.
Parasyte Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Great stuff. Amo and Matteo at the back, with Nisse, Jay and Short for backup.
AussieinUk Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Kamy...bang on! nice one Good news for Rovers... Think this could be a great season for us... Now Mr Yorke... kindly **** off!!!
Jolly Giraffe Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Excellent news, I can't wait for next season to start now.
Blueboy Downunder Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 this will be a good signing for us hopefully! a bit of solidness to the defence now.
roversmum Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Nothing on Sky about it - shows how important we are or shows how ###### they are! 'tis on't website link here Good news. I'm really beginning to look forward to the new season now.
Parasyte Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Solidness, solidity - whats the difference But yeah, I agree. Someone who can partner Amo, who isnt actually one of the few people in the country who is slower than him, like Craig Short.
RevidgeBlue Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Good signing on a free, at the £1.5m quoted in the National press it would have been overpriced given Leeds situation, his age and injury record.
vinny Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 how much did souey have to spend this summer, i can remember hearing £4 million. if this is true then we should still have that left to spend on 1 player. which could buy us a very good player or even wages for someone on a free. (jimmy floyd ???)

broadsword Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 I'd rather see Matteo and Short. Any two from Amoruso, Matteo and Shorto would do me fine.
FourLaneBlue Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 (edited) Can't really complain when on a free. Hopefully another decent addition to the squad and I don't really see anywhere that needs strengthening. Maybe a reserve right back? Unless Douglas or Emerton can fill in there... Does anyone know if it's being said or has been said whether this is likely to be the last signing of the summer? Edited July 7, 2004 by FourLaneBlue
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Great signing. He is just what we need at the back, great business by the club.
