Jan Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 So Souness has SOME heart then. The "just needs confidence" is giving Jansen a chance to find another club. Coming out and saying "he's lost it, is about as much use as your average 7 year old footballer" which unfortunately is closer to the truth would mean that Jansen HAD no future. I don't think we'll hear anything about Matt Jansen in a footballing sense once he leaves us.

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 A tragic story indeed,so much talent and promise lost in a day. His ill-fated trip to Rome will haunt him for the rest of his life. His cup final goal, promotion winner at Preston, goals against Burnley and his overall skillful play........... Thanks for the memories and the very best of luck Matt Jansen
roversmum Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 I am so sad for us fans and for Matty. I hope we will have a chance to say 'goodbye and thank you' to him.
Robertson Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Yorke should have been out the club well before now, love you matty hope you come back. Same here, hope that if he does go we get to say thanks.
TROOPER Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 I just wonder over the timing of the announcement, or do the first division (whatever) not have to worry about the transfer window? We desperately need a quality centre forward to be pushing for a place every week, & whilst the Rovers are playing the poverty card we just cannot afford to keep paying big wages to a player like Janny who is contributing nothing. Wherever you go & whatever you do Matt I wish you all the very best.
1864roverite Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 apparently two clubs have enquired about him. I really thought that he would make it but obviously there is an underlying problem which we do not see on a day to day basis. Sad for all of us who have seen the boy play. good luck MJ, your female fan club will be distraught !
den Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 It seems like I'm in the minority here, but I reckon rovers are making a big mistake if they let Matt go. I still believe the lad has it in him. It just isn't going to show in the reserves.
92er Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Yes 2 clubs have enquired about taking Jansen ,on loan-1 club is English and 1 is from the continent.
frosty Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Yes 2 clubs have enquired about taking Jansen ,on loan-1 club is English and 1 is from the continent. Anyone know who they are?
sumps Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 He showed with that goal against Liverpool last season that he still has it in him to perform at the highest level, it's just a question of whether Souness is willing to give him a decent run in the team. If he's released then it's a huge mistake IMO.
ally Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Yes 2 clubs have enquired about taking Jansen ,on loan-1 club is English and 1 is from the continent. Anyone know who they are? Probably burnley knowing GS (todd & McEverly)
Ricky Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 A season long loan deal would be the best option in my opinion
roversactive Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Probably burnley knowing GS (todd & McEverly) Wow! Who's McEverly? Don't remember anyone with that name going to Burnley. On the same topic, didn't Jay McEveley goto burnley on loan
BRFC4EVA Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Goodness me, make a spelling error on this site and your neck isn't worth anything.
laughatthedingles Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 it just said one was from this country and the other from on the continent.
samtheozzy Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 First Flitcroft and now Jansen. When Tugay goes that will be pretty much all of my favourites gone .
samtheozzy Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 A loving tribute to Matt Jansen (with apologies to Outkast) I'm sorry Matt Jansen You were for real Never meant to crash your motorbike Miss the season, lose your spot to Dwight I'm sorry Matt Jansen It's not ideal Doctors appointments all on your own England spot lost to Martin Keown
herbergeehh Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Please JW and Souey, let Crystal Palace have him for the remainder of the season before you make up your mind about him ! Andy Johnson and Matt Jansen with that young Routledge on the side seems allright, and Matty would get enough chances to impress ! And no, I'm not afraid Matty will send us down, Palace will be relegated regardless..

Bloody shame though.
RoyRover Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 I'd give him until the end of the season, give him a run in the team and if he isn't up to it, then we should let him move on. This is such an unfortunate thing to happen, because we had a genuine top class striker on our hands.
