bob fleming Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 You're right Tango. I can only presume that I was wrong and Tom actually was guessing where everyone will finish this season. Which really is ridiculous. I mean there's just no way Arsenal are going to win it.
Tom Pringle Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I can't believe you're all knocking my guess. Just because it looks like the current table with Palace in the wrong place that means it's me trying to be funny? Well it's not, i truely believe this will happen...
Alan75 Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Pike, oops I mean Pringle...........dont tell them your name.
Tango Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Hey, sorry Tom. I genuinely thought that your guess was a mickey-take, but it seems that I was tragically wrong. Please accept my heart-felt apologies in this matter.
Tom Pringle Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Apology accepted Tango. Alan - You've already told them my name...in fact it's next to ever post i make...silly man
Roaming Rover Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 18 Norwich 19 Blackburn R 20 Crystal Palace Nothing like a bit of optimism at the start of the season is there? I don't think we have the fire power to succeed at this level. So there you go, I'll be going into the west brom game expecting nothing out of it. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we win it. Could be worse - we could have been bottom!! 1. Man U 2. Chelsea 3. Arsenal 4. Liverpool 5. Aston Villa 6. Newcastle 7. Charlton 8. Rovers (injury free) 9. Brum 10. Spurs 11. Fulham 12. Bolton 13. Man City 14. 'Boro / (Rovers with injuries) 15. Portsmouth 16. West Brom 17. Southampton 18. Norwich 19. Everton 20. Crystal Palace
Philly Rover ® Posted August 11, 2004 Author Posted August 11, 2004 6. C.Palace 7. Charlton 8. Chelsea Shouldn't Crystal Palace not come after Charlton and Chelsea? You're absolutely right Tango... everyone knows that Chrystal Palace comes behind Charlton and Chelsea alphabetically. The sad part is that given the current unpredictability of the Premiership, Pringle's table will probably be closest out of anyone's come the end of the year.
Tom Pringle Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 But i seriously believe it'll finish like that! It'll be the first year that it's come close to finishing alphabetically....damn those Chrystal Palacians.
American Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 1. Liverpool 2. Arsenal 3. Chelsea 4. Birmingham City 5. Manchester United 6. Rovers 7. Aston Villa 8. Spurs 9. Man City 10. Southampton 11. Fulham 12. Newcastle 13. 'Boro 14. Portsmouth 15. Charlton 16. Everton 17. West Brom 18. Bolton 19. Norwich 20. Crystal Pal My theory about Liverpool is that Houllier gone is worth at least 20 more points. Probably will be wrong, but I have a feeling... I think United is a couple injuries away from an off season, and the couple injuries seem to be coming. Then again, I'm sure I'm wrong about everything.
tchocky Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 yeh. yous think you knows but actually this is the shizzint: 19, B. Rovas
vinny Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 I think we will do better than last year, but I cant see us being more than a mid-table team not even pushing for a european place. My Prediction = 11th
FourLaneBlue Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 With Viera seemingly (eventually) destined for Real Madrid I'll have to back Chelsea. Even with Viera I'd probably still lean for Chelsea- two quality players (at least) in every position. Not only that but they'll be likely to strengthen the squad during the transfer window (as they did last season) for the final push. Arsenal to be quite close as even without Viera they are still a great side. Then Liverpool and Man U. I'm not sure what it is about United but for the past three seasons they just haven't looked the same. Even when they won the league they didn't manage it in quite the usual swaggering, arrogant, sweeping aside all like they used to. The team I'll go for to improve is Middlesbrough. They've been threatening a decent season for years but with Parlour, Viduka, Reiziger and Hasselbaink coming in they are far better team than last year. They already had a great defence and the likes of Mendieta and Zenden should make sure of another Uefa Cup spot. Newcastle....lucky to be I think as all is not well between Robson and Shepherd. Milner, Butt and Kluivert are their main signings. Milner is still a kid, Butt is good but nothing spectacular and there's a reason why only Newcastle wanted Kluivert who is incredibly overhyped. The next Shearer he is not. Rovers - mid-table. Which is damn sight better than last year. The FA Cup is probably beyond us (no team outside those that finished in the top four last season have won it since 1995 - Arsenal three times, United three times, Chelsea twice and Liverpool once) so the most important cup for us has to be the League Cup. It's the only one we can really hope to win. Cardiff 2005? We can but dream. 1. Chelsea 2. Arsenal 3. Liverpool 4. Man United 5. Middlesbrough 6. Aston Villa 7. Newcastle United 8. Birmingham City 9. Charlton Athletic 10. Tottenham Hotspur 11. Blackburn Rovers 12. Fulham 13. Manchester City 14. Southampton 15. Bolton Wanderers 16. West Bromwich Albion 17. Norwich City 18. Portsmouth 19. Everton 20. Crystal Palce
tchocky Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Have you been drinking young man? Never! Now sober: 12. Blackburn Rovers EDIT: If we get a new striker/Yorke turns out to be as good as they want us to think.
Alan75 Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Well here goes might as well make a fool of myself. Never write off United, but it will be a close run contest with Arsenal. With both Liverpool and Chelsea having new managers, neither with Premier or even English League experience it could be the season for the Geordies to get some sort of respectability. Even with the big transfer expenditure by Boro and Birmingham I think their in the same pack as Rovers and could finish anywhere between 6th and 15th. The suprise team could be West Brom if they've learnt their lesson from last time. For the drop, any of the bottom 6 shown, board room wrangles are catching up with Everton and I fear for Coleman at Fulham, most of his buy's appear to be pick pocketting other managers ground work. 1. Man United 2. Arsenal 3. Newcastle United 4. Liverpool 5. Chelsea 6. Aston Villa 7. Middlesbrough 8. Birmingham City 9. Charlton Athletic 10. ROVERS 11.Tottenham Hotspur 12. Manchester City 13. Bolton Wanderers 14. West Bromwich Albion 15. Fulham 16. Southampton 17. Norwich City 18. Everton 19. Portsmouth 20. Crystal Palce

Kremmin Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 Did pretty well at this last season. Hope Chelsea run 2nd again but here goes: 1. Chelsea 2. Arsenal 3. Manchester United 4. Newcastle 5. Birmingham 6. Middlesbrough 7. Liverpool 8. Aston Villa 9. Charlton 10. Tottenham 11. Blackburn 12. Bolton 13. Fulham 14. Portsmouth 15. Southampton 16. Manchester City 17. WBA 18. Norwich 19. Quack Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 Here we go - 1. Chelsea 2. Arsenal 3. MUFC 4. Liverpool ( even without Owen ) 5. Newcastle 6. Boro 7. Birmingham 8. A Villa 9. Rovers 10. Spurs 11. Southampton 12. Fulham 13. Charlton 14. Portsmouth 15. Bolton 16. MCFC 17. West Brom 18. Norwich 19. Everton 20. Crystal Palace Everton will be Rooney-less come Jan and I think that the self destruct timer is ticking. The Canaries / Eagles just do not have enough quality but Mr Megson has spent wisely as well as persuading Koumas to stay. These 4 to be well adrift of a large scrum which will include Rovers, top 3 to be 10 points clear at the end of the season with Chelsea just pipping Arsenal.
American Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 Even after the Owen thing, I'm going to resist the temptation to edit my previous post...
Philly Rover ® Posted August 14, 2004 Author Posted August 14, 2004 I hear you, American... I was waiting to see about Vieira, but now that it seems he's staying I'm leaving Arsenal as champions. As for everyone else, this is your last notice: If you're going to enter your predictions or edit your existing ones, you must do so by 12:45 (English time) tomorrow!!! Not that you'll win anything by coming in first in this little contest, of course... but personal pride is at stake here.
